He offered to drill ahole through the tree root that was blocking the sewer line in our recently bought house. If the line needed more work after that he said he would deduct the cost of the drain clearing from the bid. Ihave to stop at this point and explain that three other plumbers also came to look at the job (Gillece, Roto Rooter and some other private guy) and each of them either refused to give me an estimate but also intimated that it could be up to 20K, read between the lines. Matt was straight forward, got the job done and even arranged for new grass seed for the tiny part of the sidewalk that has dirt in it! This a VERY expensive and disruptive repair! Upon finding small amounts of sewer water in our basement, we called Roto-Rooter to check out the problem. They were prompt in responding and diagnosed the sewer line collapse when they came out. They gave us an estimate to trench the line to repair the break (which was, thankfully, close to the house on under the lawn) and line the pipe to the city connection. Now, not having a sewer line means you can't use the indoor plumbing (except VERY sparingly). The liner system means they don't have to replace the pipe the whole way to the street which would have been incredibly costly! It's also guaranteed and should mean we don't have to go through this again with a break further down the line. They said they could be out to start on the 2-3 day repair the next day, so we went ahead and scheduled. Although we would have loved to get another estimate, we just didn't have the time to mess around. Also, not everyone has the trenching equipment they needed to get to the line about 10 feet under our front yard. I don't really know if someone else would have been cheaper (and at this point, I don't want to know if they would have been). Roto Rooter was prompt and worked diligently. The job was done in 2-3 days and we only had to stay elsewhere one or two days. The yard was left probably in as good shape as can be expected; Our yard had a grave-sized pile of dirt with some broken terracotta and an ugly white access pipe sticking up in the middle of our yard. The workers also left some undesirable debris, like some trash and cigarette butts, but not that bad... Over time the hole settled considerably and we filled in spring with topsoil (which is surprisingly cheap at a DIY store) and seeded with new grass. I also got a "fake rock" to cover the ugly access pipe which is literally in the middle of our yard. As of June, it looks like nothing ever happened. Overall, we were satisfied, especially given that we felt we had little to no choice but to get the work done as soon as possible!"},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/pa/murrysville/roto-rooter-plumbing-and-water-cleanup-reviews-113747.htm"},"position":10}]}
Sewer Line Repair reviews from real Angi homeowners in Pittsburgh, PA
The drain line that services my kitchen and laundry room has always been slow-ish and clogged solidly for the second time. We called Terry's and they came out to snake the line. After running 50' of snake through the line there was still no luck. They ran a camera through the line and...

We had sewage back up in the basement. We first called Roto Rooter thinking it was just a quick snake job. When it became apparent that Roto Rooter intended to fleece us, we fired them and hired Iron Dog. Jim’s guys quickly found the broken section of sewer, repaired the pipe and the...

I had a sewer backup in the basement. I called Poilluci at 8:10am left a message of voicemail, got a call back about 10min later, and was told they would get the plumbers in in 2hr. The two plumbers arrived at 10am, and proceeded dealing with the 10-in deep sewer waters that were in my...

"I wish I had had the same experience as the other reviewers. I will say that this company got me scheduled quickly and showed up on time. I was seeing a small amount of water on the floor for an upstairs toilet. He diagnosed the problem in minutes, but then pressured me to replace the toilet rather than repair it He would not provide a written estimate for either repair or replacement - he kept saying he would "write something up" but never did. I was only given a Work Order after the repair because I insisted he provided me with something He was here for less than one hour total replacing two rusted-out toilet bolts. The Work Order reflects anew tank kit, a new flipper, and a new supply line, none of which were replaced. He charged me $400 for replacing the two bolts and then pressured me to pay cash (I did not). He also told me that he provided no guarantee for his repairwork."

"Owner showed up with a small crew and a crazy new piece of equipment. Excavated down below my foundation and to the septic tank. Came into the basement and jackhammered the floor. Removed all the old terracotta pipe inside and out. Installed all new PVC pipe all the way down to the septic tank. Put gravel down to protect the new pipe. Poured concrete in the basement to close the floor back up. Only took one day to get the new pipe in. Came back the next to close the ground and floor up. Great experience, basement no longer smell like sewage."

Reliant gas lines is a natural gas service line repair or replacement company. I handle the buried portion of the service line from curb stop to meter and the buried house line if the meter is far away from the house. I do a good job at a fair price, am qualified for both Peoples Gas and Columbia Gas and fully insured. As a small owner operator business I can be flexible on scheduling as these types of problems tend to be emergencies. While in business for myself just a short time now I have over 15 years of experience in the natural gas industry involving repair and replacement of gas mains and service lines.

"First of all, I can can do plumbing myself, but it usually involves more than a day or two and multiple trips to one of the big box stores. Since the tub hardware was old and corroded, I didn't want to take a chance of making things worse, so I decided to call in a professional; that the toilet started leaking was a (happy) coincidence for me, so he or she could do that at the same time. I contacted TruPlumbing and Tom was dispatched for the job... he contacted me to set up a time and date for the service call and also gave me a quote and the option to buy my own parts for the job, telling me what was needed, Tom arrived on time and had both jobs completed in a few hours; he was very professional, covered his shoes so as not to track dirt into the house, and explained what all he had done. I would definitely recommend TruPlumbing and will use them in the future."

At Sullivan Super Service, you’ll take pride in knowing you’re hiring a family-owned company that employs four generations of Sullivans and has been working in the Pittsburgh area since 1964. Bill and Anna Sullivan started their business out of their home with just one truck. As their family grew, so did their business and they opened a shop in Braddock and hired more technicians. Through the years the company grew but remained committed to offering the special touch of a family operated business.
"Overall the multiple projects went well. More costly than expected but we did receive some discounts which helped. The only one item I would mention is that we bought an incorrect faucet/drain combination. The tech replaced the drain components but since the faucet we had was designed to have a pull lever for the drain, and the one he used was a push down stopper, the hole where the pull up leveler would have gone stayed opened. It does not look good so we now need to live with it."

FAQs for sewer line repair projects in Pittsburgh, PA
The average cost to snake your main sewer line is around $250 for a simple snake. Most sewer line specialists charge between $45 and $200 per hour for main sewer line snaking, so the time involved plays a major role. The price you’ll pay will depend on the severity of the clog, the item causing the backup, how long it takes to remove the item, and more. A more severe issue that requires unclogging a main sewer line will cost $3,100 on average.
Yes, most states require plumbers to be licensed, and for good reason. Hiring an unlicensed plumber could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
You should not attempt to snake your sewer yourself. Accessing and snaking your sewer requires heavy-duty equipment, and while renting is possible, misusing it can damage your sewer main and leave you with very expensive repair costs, not to mention potential environmental issues and severe water damage. Accessing your sewer also exposes you to hazardous sewer gasses, and failing to seal the sewer properly after work can be very dangerous. It’s always best to hire a professional sewer cleaner near you to handle this type of work.
The average cost to unclog a drain is around $200, with prices ranging between $110 and $800, depending on the type of drain and the extent of the clog. Hiring a professional to snake the toilet or sink will usually cost between $110 and $275, a bathtub or shower typically costs around $225, and a main line clog can cost between $100 and $800 based on the severity of the clog and how far beyond the access point the clog sits. Since the labor involved varies, most plumbers will charge an hourly rate for drain cleaning.
The average cost to hire a plumber is around $100 an hour but can vary between $45 and $200 an hour depending on the plumber’s experience and the repair that you need. It’s also important to note that these prices can go up on holidays, and emergency plumber rates average $150 per hour, in addition to a flat-rate trip fee of $100 to $350.
