In February I had a tech named Chad come to fix a squealing toilet. He insisted it wasn’t the fill valve but the inlet valve behind the toilet. When remounting the toilet he made ME, who just had open abdominal surgery help him remount the toilet! He flushes it 3 times, still squealing. He knows he hasn’t fixed the issue but still charges me and leaves. Like I said, I’m recovering from a major operation & this was a toilet in my rental unit located above my unit. I wasn’t renting it out at the time so I let it go for a few months bc you know recovering from illness and working 50 hours a week gets in the way. The part & work was supposedly under warranty for 1 year. I had another plumbing service cone and look at the squealing toilet. They replaced the fill valve. After 8 flushes- squealing again. Stays for another hour repeatedly flushing the toilet then leaves with problem not fixed. I go to my unit, HUGE hole in my ceiling. Clearly the toilet has been leaking every times it’s flushed and just sat in the floor/ceiling until it got too wet and the plaster gave away. Call roto rooter- they take 2 days to come and are no where in the time window. If I had a tennant at the time this would be an EMERGENCY but they take their sweet time. They come and replace the fill valve AGAIN. They admit Chad had no idea what he was doing. They said I would be refunded for the damage, lost money from not being able to rent it, and the original call. In comes the arrogant Ozie Soarks. He will ONLY send some third party restoration company to “fix the damage”. This third party company is even more rude and stupid than roto rooter and wants to rip up my place, leave it dry for 2 weeks, then only patch the hole. According to the two companies my insurance company sent out, they said the floor of the bathroom was also shot and needed repaired. So I had to use the insurance company Incase there were future issues, if this claim wasn’t followed through I’ll be liable for all future issues since this would be “pre existing” if not fixed right. This ends up being a $5,000 claim. Again I have to deal with this Ozie moron. He says he’s done with me bc I cancelled the home restoration he recommended. When I explain they couldn’t fix all the damage he tries to mansplain to me and says “Mistakes happen” and they’re not liable. Sending inexperienced techs that don’t know what they’re doing is absolutely their problem. I work in healthcare, if I make a mistake someone dies. I’m so sick of people not standing behind their work with garbage excuses. I’m like you need to refund me bc after ALL of this the toilet is squealing again SO loudly you can hear it in the yard. Ozie blames this on a wax ring. It’s not the F$&@ing ring!!! Ozie tells me that he’s “done with me & I can call the BBB and my lawyer” and hangs up. Buckle up buddy!!!!!

The problem is fixed. They replaced the main stack, and all the toilet, tub and sink tie-in to the stack. However, it cost me $4556 (YES, four thousand five hundred fifty six). Their hourly rate is $325 per hour. That is OUTRAGEOUS!!! After completing the work, the Allegheny County Health Department needs to inspect and sign off. The plumber had to re-do some of the work. HIGH MARKUP: Health department published inspection fee on the county website for this type of work is $75; Roto Rooter charged me $156. THAT IS 120% MARKUP. I asked for parts markup %, of course they won't disclose. I assume the markup is got to to be 120% as high as the county inspection fee. I am totally DISSATISFIED with Roto Rooter. I get ripped off once, NEVER AGAIN. Stay away from Roto Rooter, find another plumber who is not so greedy.

Never showed. Reached out again nearly 24 hours later. Claimed someone would be at our home in 30 minutes. Two and a half hours go by, no call no show no explanation. We decided to cancel altogether. Very disappointed and dissatisfied with such lack of concern and communication. Will never reach out to Roto-Rooter again.

I am extremely disappointed in the horrible service I’ve received from Roto Rooter. Well I can’t actually say “service” as I have not actually had any repairs completed yet. Two days in a row now, I’ve made appointments and NO ONE ever shows up. Not even a phone call. I have had to miss two days of work to be able to be home so they can come and yet no one arrived. How disappointing coming from such a well known plumbing company. Not to mention, they are aware that I need a sump pump replaced and its raining like crazy. They never even bothered to call to update me on the status I have called them over 10 times the last two days and all they say is that someone will be available within the hour. How does this Roto Rooter on Brownsville Rd in Pittsburgh stay in business.

After working 4+ hours with a hand snake to unclog our sewer it was finally time to call in someone with better tools and more experience. Initial contact went fine, though the wait ended up being longer than represented. Not like I had a choice if I wanted a shower! Service provider was fantastic once he arrived and went above & beyond. He was able to resolve our issue and did so with a great attitude all things considered. My only gripe was the cost but hey, the alternative if I didn't have the service done was not a pretty one.

I gave roto rooter the first chance to bid. I made the mistake of telling them I had line insurance. They must have know what the standard line policy covers. Their bid was $500 over the max my coverage would pay. I thought the bid was outrageous. So, I got a 2nd bid. I didn't tell the 2nd contractor I had line insurance. The 2nd bid was $3000.00 less than the first bid. Plus, the warranty was twice as long. The moral of the story is "don't let the contractor know you have coverage. Even thought I wasn't paying I didn't want to see the insurance company get overcharged either.

First of all we just wanted to know how much they would charge to replace a kitchen faucet. They insisted that a technician HAD to come to the house to "assess" the situation....really? It took them several days just for a technician to have "time" to come to our home. I was told a technician would come out on a Thursday. My husband took the entire day off work JUST to have a quote on a price! To make matters worse, when we called to see if the technician was still coming out we were told yes and he'd call us before lunch. After lunch we called again and were told he'd be in the afternoon now. The guy never came out to "assess" the situation (of replacing a kitchen sink faucet) so we had to wait until the next day. Same stupid runaround the next day of waiting and calling for a plumber to show up just to give us an ESTIMATE. He finally showed up late on a Friday afternoon and quoted us a ridiculous amount of $350 to replace a basic kitchen sink faucet. Horrible service and outrageous pricing!!

While all this was occurring the water restoration team completely cleaned, disinfected and removed all damaged carpet, paneling etc...cudos to Vince and Alex who led the team - communicated with me and made sure I was educated about the job and updated throughout the process. I highly recommend roto-rooter. Won't use anyone else! They were done in four days - worked late into the evening and both Saturday and Sunday

They don't want to take care of any small problems. They just want to do the big jobs. In my opinion, what this service provider likes to do is up-sell any type of job they do. They don't want to take care of small problems. I'm willing to pay for their service, to fix the small problem; they want to up-sell and I find that rather annoying.?He told me it was $400.00 to replace an entire $39.00 faucet; which I thought was?ludicrous. This?was not the first time I had that experience with them. I had them to fix the garbage disposal that was loose. They charged me $100.00 to tighten up the garbage disposal and that stemmed from the fact that I had a package from retail warehouse where they replaced all of the appliances in my kitchen; dishwasher, microwave, stove, refrigerator and that included a sink. Whoever installed it probably did not put the garbage disposal back in correctly. Several months later, we ?just noticed that it was wet under the sink. I called them, they did tighten it up and fix it. But, my point is just that I had other minor plumbing problems...to be quite frank, ?I used other local plumbers when I have other small issues I just wasn't able to get a hold of them at the time. The fact that it was leaking under my kitchen sink, I just didn't want it leaking in the basement. My experience is always the same. They don't want to fix something small. They want to up-sell you to entire new faucets. I've been to hardware stores and I know that faucets cost about $39.00 and they want to charge you $400.00 to install it, I just think that is outrageous. They weren't willing to help small problems. The price to fix the disposal was fair, the price to fix a simple dripping sink was ludicrous. The quality was good, they did fix the problem. My experience with has been they have fixed the problem when I've asked them to fix the problem. ?My issue is always the up-sell, that's their M-O. They want to up-sell you on everything. When they do the job, they do it right. I would not recommend them. The worker was fine. I get the feeling that this provider is a franchise and plumbers buy into the franchise. Cleanup was fine. They could improve on their honesty.

The problem was way out in the pipes and the sewer backed up into our basement. They worked diligently. Everything they did was just great. They cleaned up and everything for us. The basement never looked better.

Plumber couldn't install a shutoff valve. He had to call someone else in and they charged $300 for that even after their web site says no additional charges. The plumber on site was not real knowledgeable . He claimed the main sewer stack was not piped to go out of the house and it just went from a floor drain to a basement toilet and not out and said it was impossible. 65+ years and I know the drain goes outside or it would have been backed up 65 years ago. He just couldn't get it, and then wanted to charge $7000 to dig up the floor to pipe it out of the house. (which it already does)

Pretty smoothly. The plumber was professional, friendly & a good worker. They sent a water remediation person to assess the situation. She scheduled the clean-up crew & filed a claim with my home insurance co.

Roto-Rooter was really up-front with the pricing. It was about $300 plus the cost of the disposal (~$400 total). We could have probably done this job ourselves, but the electrical was hard-wired instead of plugged in, and we didn't want to deal with it. They were incredibly fast (out within 2 hours of calling), friendly, and professional on-site.

Everything about this process was easy. I had my kitchen sink stop up the day before I was supposed to be having guests. I tried plunging, snaking, and using Drano, but the drain wouldn't open up. I went online last night to book an appointment for this morning. The process was efficient, and within an hour or so I had a confirmation of my appointment. In the morning, as they said they would, they called to let me know someone was on the way and would arrive in 30 minutes or so--which he did. Ozie was great--he explained everything to me very clearly but talked to me like I am a reasonably intelligent adult (not always the experience I have had with workmen in my house), answered all my questions, and was very clear about what kind of problem I was dealing with. (I also got to see him training a new person, and he's a very good teacher.) Once they'd cleared the clog, they checked and double-checked to make sure that the line was clear and that there was no leaking in the pipes they'd dissembled. And then then cleaned everything up! The process was transparent and straightforward. I knew the price before they got started, and there were no surprises. It's not cheap--I paid $275 with a coupon (it's worth checking Roto-Rooter's site for those)--but I'm willing to pay out a bit for good, reliable, professional service. I'm hoping this doesn't happen again for a very long time, but if it does, I'll be calling Roto-Rooter and asking for Ozie again.
