Indiana Marble & Granite, Inc. works with some of the leading kitchen and bath designers and dealers in Western Pennsylvania. Together we coordinate your project to bring to life your dream home with custom fabrication and design.
"This group of people were very patient and professional. They took time with us giving us several options. In the end we chose granite. Rose was very good at what she does and went beyond to accompany us by ordering a slab that we thought we wanted and in the end we chose the one she ordered. Carl was very good at measuring and even noticed that the sink below the window wasn't quite centered in our old countertop. When the guys came in they put down drop cloths and each one knew exactly what to do, very professional and friendly. Carl even lent me a wet saw, saving me from buying one A+ BUSINESS"

"Recently engaged Quality Granite Outlet for Quartz Countertop and Backslash in our kitchen renovation, including a waterfall edge peninsula. I have been holding off to post this review because I was hoping things would turnaround, but feel obligated to warn other people. First, there were numerous issues with the installation. The measurements must have been wrong and the installers did a poor job. One part of the overhang is like a half inch longer than the rest of the overhang. The backsplash was cut improperly and doesn't go to the edge of our window. There were numerous stains on the quartz and underside of the waterfall. The way the cuts were made the veining doesn't flow throughout. The spacing behind the backsplash is large. They completely failed to caulk parts of the backsplash and peninsula leaving huge gaps. They did send someone out to remedy some of the issues, but once quartz is cut there isn't that much you can do for mistakes in measurements and/or cutting. This person told me that you cannot expect it to be perfect and said the overhang didn't look that noticeable now that the stove was installed to hide it. Now as the final straw, we have had the quartz for less than two months (three weeks of which we were on vacation and didn't use the kitchen at all), and the edge cracked by simply bumping it. I called to request a repair, as I presume there was some issue with the way the installers cut or finished the edge to make it that easy to chip. The response from Quality Granite is they are going to charge me $200.00 for a repair of brand new countertops. This is unacceptable to me. I would not recommend this company at all. If I could afford to rip out the entire backsplash and just tile it, I would at this point. It will never look right. When you spend this kind of money, you should get what you ask for. I am now going to have to hire someone else to fix the chip in my brand new countertop, as I refuse to pay this company another dime. If I could give them less than one star, I would. Find someone else."

"We picked a piece of Quartz (Category Z) from Mont for installation over all of our kitchen countertops. As a wholesale distributer, Mont does not sell the stone directly to customers, but requires a fabricator. We contacted 5 fabricators in Pittsburgh, and long story short, Lexmar was by far the best. I’ll give a brief account of why we liked them so much, followed by a longer account of what happened with the other 4. Hopefully our experience will be useful to others. I don’t have enough good things to say about Lexmar, but to highlight a few: 1) very fair prices, 2) extremely nice personnel, 3) super high quality work, and 4) on schedule from start to finish (so rare in the renovation business!). Our stone was a category Z from Mont with a very heterogeneous pattern that needed to be cut into many pieces with lots of cutouts. First, Cheryl, the contact person, is truly one of the nicest and most informative people I have encountered in the renovation business. She explained the entire process to me (and it unfolded exactly as she said it would), and answered all my questions without being patronizing or impatient. Second, the guy who measured the kitchen (before the demolition of the old tiles and countertops) must have done a great job, because when the pieces arrived, they were not a millimeter off. Third, when I visited their warehouse, the stone cutter patiently worked with me for an hour to match this unusually difficult-to-work with piece of stone into the right arrangement of pieces to make the seems look continuous. He really amazed me with his artistic eye for detail and how he traced the complex pattern from one end to the next. Finally, the installation went super smoothly. They showed up on time, worked diligently to make sure the necessary structural support was there and added pieces if in doubt. They did the plumbing as well, installed the cooktop, and tested everything. The result was the most gorgeous countertops ever! (will post pics when the renovation is complete!). Could not have asked for a better experience, and could not have been happier about supporting a local business with people who truly deserve the support. For the record, here’s our experience with the other 4 fabricators that we did not hire: 1- Armina stone: The most expensive quote, i.e., exactly twice as expensive as Lexmar. No itemized pricing was provided. 2- Magnotti and Son: the second most expensive quote. I have been their customer for stone and hearthstone for two fireplaces. They provide good quality cuts, but are sometimes unnecessarily expensive. For example, they charged me 50% more for a box of limestone from Eldorado compared to another distributor. 3- Quality Granite Outlet: Same price at Magnotti and Son, but itemized and detailed. Fast response and an offer to price match. We did not follow up with them because the price was still 60% higher than the least expensive quote we had, so we figured price matching was probably not going to work out. 4- Ultimate Granite: Second least expensive option after Lexmar. I had them recommended by our tile guy, so I was interested in working with them, and their low price and good reviews were appealing. I’m afraid our experience with them left much to be desired. In contrast to Lexmar, they could not be less unfriendly. Speaking with them on the phone felt like a grand imposition. Even though the price was only slightly higher than Lexmar, when I asked them whether they were interested in matching it, they dismissed it right off the bat with no attempts to retain us. When I asked for specific prices of like backsplash, they never got back to me. So, they were naturally out."

Pittsburgh Remodeling Company is built on the principles of customer service and craftsmanship. Through partnership with homeowners, the team at PRC can help achieve any vision for your home remodeling project. While every home and every project is different, when Pittsburgh Remodeling Company is involved there are certain constants: The work looks amazing and the customers are satisfied. So if you’re looking for more than a contractor, for a company that will care about your project and final product as much as you do, let’s start a conversation .
"I wasn't planning on writing a review about our experience with PRC, but after finding more examples of poor workmanship on a project that was supposed be completed 10 months ago, I've changed my mind. This post is not motivated by malice, but we are very disappointed. PRC came highly recommend, and we knew we'd be paying a premium for a good company. We expected a lot more on a job that nearly totaled 40K. Our entire project was not terrible, and there were areas where PRC excelled. First the Good: PRC was organized and prompt every day that they came to work. They respected our home, and did their best to make sure the rest of the house remained clean. They stuck to the contract. They were always patient with us and answered our questions. Their design assistance was great, and we love the aesthetics that were chosen for hour kitchen project. They definitely listened and tried to address our concerns (but they fell short). The Bad: This is just my theory, but I feel as though our project was considered insignificant compared to more complicated work that I know PRC does. We are going to have to replace the new floor in our kitchen/dining room that is not 12 months old because PRC failed to install it properly. We will now be forced to spend another 3-4 K on the replacement. To be fair, PRC returned most of our money we paid them for the floor. I appreciate this greatly, but it is going to cost us money we didn't plan on spending on getting it right. The floor co. we are using now took one look at the floor and explained all the areas that were done incorrectly. They are going to use our floor as an example of poor installation to future clients. They will also photograph the new floor to present a before and after example. The plumbing under our sink came undone after maybe 2 months. This was repaired promptly, but I worry about its longevity. Switch plates and the new heat register were installed crooked. Again, this was fixed, but why not install it right the first time? The issue that is forcing me to write this review, the paint. I believe this was a 1200 item on our work order. They came multiple times in order to get it right. It still isn't. There are areas that are not covered, blotchy, and simply not painted at all. As I was cleaning a portion of the wall yesterday, I noticed that there are entire sections of wall that are not painted. It is just bare wall compound. We did not receive a refund for the paint, but I did not ask for one. My mistake. It should not take multiple visits to paint one room properly. However, this is another example of how I will be spending more time and money for something that I already paid for. There are more issues, but these are the most significant. Again, we are so disappointed. We wanted to work with PRC on future projects, but that is impossible now. We actually don't even want to get involved in any more home projects after this experience. I think PRC has the ability to deliver quality work, but for some reason they fell quite short with our home. We have currently tried to contact PRC about the additional problems we have found, and have been ignored. Proceed with caution!"

Installing a marble backsplash costs about $2,200 on average, ranging from $600 to $6,000, depending on the variety of marble and the labor costs to prep and install. Common types of marble used for backsplashes include:
Makrana: $12 per square foot
Pink: $25 per square foot
Carrara: $40 per square foot
Statuatrio: $50 per square foot
Cultured: $65 per square foot
Travertine: $75 per square foot
Danby: $80 per square foot
Calacatta: $180 per square foot
Marble countertops cost $3,000 on average, ranging from about $2,000 to $5,000, depending on the type of marble, square footage, location, and whether you use tiles or slabs. Another major cost factor to consider is the grading of the marble, which determines its quality level.
Use this grading system when selecting marble for countertops:
Grade A: Nearly perfect with subtle veining
Grade B: Minor flaws such as pits, fissures, or blotches
Grade C: Minor and major flaws like chipping and cracks requiring repair
Grade D: Significant damage needing repair, with dark veining and pronounced colors
Granite and marble compare well against each other in terms of price, durability, and aesthetic appeal. Deciding which one is better depends on your personal style and preference. Both materials resist damage like chips and cracks well. You should seal both material types against staining and etching, but they’re still susceptible if oil, wine, coffee, tomato sauce, or juice are left on the countertop long enough. As material and installation costs range similarly, the deciding factor is your budget, design, and preferences.
Installing granite kitchen countertops costs about $3,250, ranging from $2,000 to $4,000, depending on the quantity and quality of the granite, use of granite tile or granite slabs, the type of granite, and its color and texture. Varieties of granite include:
Alaska white: $35 per square foot
Ubatuba: $30–$60 per square foot
Silver cloud: $35–$40 per square foot
Absolute black: $45–$60 per square foot
Black galaxy: $50–$70 per square foot
Blue Louise: $70–$100 per square foot
Crema Bordeaux: $80 per square foot
Solarius: $60 per square foot
Overall, granite tends to cost more than marble. Prices for each material will fluctuate depending on the source of the stone, your location, shipping costs, and the thickness of the material. Labor to install marble or granite countertops typically ranges from $35 to $45 per hour. Granite and marble tile and slab costs compare as follows:
Marble tile: $7–$10
Granite tile: $5–$15
Marble slab: $25–$60
Granite slab: $50–$100
