Heidenreich Custom Carpentry & Renovation

I recommend Heidenreich Custom Carpentry because he does excellent work for me, several projects including repair of the ceiling installing wainscoting, trail railing. He put custom molding above the ceiling all throughout the room. He painted everything which looks new now. He remove the old stair railings and installed a new ones for me. He did all the work and installed one light fixtures over my sink.

Made initial contact was pleasant and professional. Asked me to send photo of the repair needed. I did. Never heard back from them

Matt's work was a little slower than I'd hoped but his work was meticulous. He found an excellent price on laminate flooring that has a significantly longer warranty than the popular name brand that I'd anticipated using. The electrician he brought in to install the new lighting was very knowledgeable and equally meticulous. There was an issue with existing baseboards which Matt corrected without an additional charge.

Matt completed a completed bathroom remodel for our main bathroom. Included tearing out all old materials, installing a new tub, tile on the walls and floor, and new vanity, sink top, toilet, lights, the works. We are very pleased with the work. Matt takes his time to do a quality job. There was a lot of tile work, and it looks great. Matt installed built in shelves for the shower with an arched top, and it looks very nice. He is a skilled craftsman. Matt is also a very honest person. We had to leave town for a period while the job was underway and we did not hesitate to give him access to our house while we were gone. That is very important to us.

Matt understood my goal in re-purposing a large room. He researched sources of supplies and obtained better prices than anticipated. His workmanship was excellent and he recommended an electrician and plumber, both of whon provided excellent service.

Matt was a pleasure to work and I am very glad I selected him for the project. He takes the time to really understand exactly what you are looking to accomplish, and offers up great ideas and solutions during the planning phase. The quality of the work is outstanding, Matt is an excellent craftsman and a perfectionist down to the smallest detail; Additionally, In the middle of the job I expanded the scope of the work and this was accommodated with no problem. While working he was very clean, friendly and punctual and completed the job at a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend Heidenreich Custom Carpentry & Renovation for any project, I’m sure I will be calling them again.

Matt is a gem! He takes great care in his work which was needed to do the tile work. I looked for four years for someone who would even do the job. Matt was the first one who said he could do the tile work too. Dealing with 100 year old subway tile with pencil line thin grout lines is extremely delicate work and Matt did a tremendous job. The work took about 5 weeks because it was so painstaking. Everything was a challange: The beadboard had been cut too short by someone else so he had to create the baseboards rather then use the ones I had. The original chair rail had been demolished leaving some bad gaps and he had to create a backing for the new rail. There was a huge hole where the tub had been and where they had demolished all the tile to put in the "modern" tub and he had to drywall that so he could even put up the beadboard.  Because the house is 101 years old, things weren't always plum or square. Matt met every challenge. 
I've hired him for more work and plan to keep him busy for awhile yet! He's super nice and and quite a craftsman. He specializes in restoration type work so if you have an old house, Matt is your guy.

Matt Heidenreich is quite possibly the most responsive, responsible and talented service provider of any kind with whom I have ever worked. He was exceptionally thoughtful in his approach to my project, one for which I had very specific and very high expectations.  I wanted my bookshelves to look as if they had always been in my house, even though they would be brand new, and this took a lot of deep thinking and careful planning on Matt's part.  From the get-go, Matt was both excited by and engaged with this project and took my desires and thoughts to heart. He specially designed steel beam reinforcements to the shelves themselves because I wanted them to be built in a certain way and he worried that they might bow due to the weight of the books. He also designed custom crown molding that would help obscure the fact that the room is incredibly uneven (being that the house is over a hundred years old). Finally, he painstakingly peeled original baseboard woodwork from the walls and then reapplied it to the front of the bookshelves and made it look as if it had always been that way. From start to finish, Matt was the consummate professional, and as a finish carpenter, he is absolutely first rate.  He clearly takes great pride in his work, wants to do right by his customers, and is, without doubt, an artisan at heart.  I give him my most enthusiastic endorsement.  If you want a carpenter who will treat your home as if it is his own, Matt is your guy!

Matt, of Heidenreich Custom, after giving us a good price, met me at Home Depot a few days later to select the materials, giving me the opportunity to pay for the materials directly. Matt offered to pick them up the wood and materials for delivery to our home. He began the work the next day, as promised, and completed the project, with nearly 130 feet of moulding with many corners and alcoves to work around, within 4 days. Matt only works on a few jobs at a time but stays on your job until its completed. He's very honest and truly dedicated to his craft. The workmanship was first-rate and he explained each step of the process of his method of installation and why it made a difference in the quality longterm. I agreed to do the painting to save some money. After he was finished, I assumed I'd have to sand and caulk the joints. Not so. It was perfect and ready for paint. We were very pleased with his work, and are asking him back for future projects.
Next, we've asked him back to rebuild an outside wooden porch and steps.

It went well.  Matt was extremely thorough in scoping out the project.  Ours is an old home, so nothing is true in terms of measurement.  He really had to be exact with his measurements to build the custom door.  I was truly impressed with this skill in calculating this.



Matt chose quality materials, by and large (although I wish he would have looked a little harder for better hardware), and he was very attentive to detail.  When he went to install the door, it was a real labor of love on his part as he had to really re-size the door on site, despite his extensive measurements early on, to make it fit.  He probably spent two days at our house whittling away at the door until it fit. 



Generally, all is well with the door.  A little adjustment will be necessary, but Matt has been responsive about coming out to take care of this.



I would definitely work with Matt again.  He is polite and very talented, in addition to having artistic vision.

The bottom portion of our stairway had no handrail / bannisters.  (This is a problem if you have small kids who might go falling off!)
We needed something made that can be easily removed in case large items needed to be taken up the stairs.
Matt did excellent work.  He came up with a creative solution to this problem, and the result is very nice looking.  We're very happy we went with Matt!

Matt worked well with our time schedule. We will have  him back soon did a super job!

We remodeled our basement bathroom and found mold on the drywall.  We cut the offending drywall out, but didn't want to replace the undamaged pieces.  We decided to create storage for our many DVDs in our movie themed basement.  We wanted to have the shelves be recessed into the wall to maximize the space.  That's about all we knew.  
Matt came over to look at the job and really listened to what we had in mind.  He then suggested several ideas that enhanced our original thoughts such as adjusting shelf height to truly capitalize on the available space.  We had an estimate within a week.  The estimate was reasonable, especially since Matt had to think outside of the box when it came to framing out the area to tie in with the existing drywall. 
Matt built the shelves off site quickly.  He kept us in the loop by sending pictures of his work as it progressed.  He installed the system quickly and professionally.  
My husband and I are so pleased with Matt's innovative design and excellent carpentry work.  The shelves look amazing and are perfect to store all of our DVDs and even some memorabilia.  Matt's work has me looking around the house for other projects we can 
ask him to complete.  I recommend him completely.

So far it has been good.  He was forth right and easy to deal with.  We have had no problems so far. We are happy with him.

Matt did an outstanding job of cutting both inside and outside corners to fit out plaster walls. He also prep'd and painted the trim. At the end of each day, all work areas, tools, and materials were neatly cleaned and stored. Excellent job.

He is a perfectionist and you can tell by the work he completes. He will provide you up front with an estimate and does not go above that price. He is very professional. He shows up on scheduled time to complete the work. I just cannot say enough about him. I actually have another job coming up that he will be completing. He also will be building a corner nook for me in my living room. He pretty much can do any large or small job you might need done.

Price is based on the job, (not an hourly rate) and only charges extra if additional work is added to the job by the client.
