"Marquis was amazing! He was professional and knowledgeable. The service is a bit pricey, but it is definitely worth it. Someone else did an inspection and recommended replacing the sewage pipe. But I wasn't sure that was accurate. In comes Zoom. They had every piece of equipment necessary for the job, which is part of the service fees, which I'm happy to pay for. In the end, they were clogging issues. He jetted the line and removed the clogs. It was a lot less expensive than replacing the line. He told me we will eventually need to replace it, but we'll know based on the plumbing symptoms. Thanks, Zoom - especially Marquis!"

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Some of the most common plumbing repairs are certainly no small issues. The good news is that plumbers typically deal with these problems frequently and have the parts and tools ready to take care of them quickly and efficiently. These common problems include:

  • Clogged drains: $75–$250

  • Clogged toilet: $125–$300

  • Bathtub and shower: $100–$600

  • Faucet or showerhead: $200–$350

  • Sink pipe: $200–$500

  • Toilet repair: $150–$400

The cost depends on the parts, labor, extent of damage, and whether extensive plumbing modifications are required. Typical repairs cost $150-$300.

According to the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), the distance between your trap and the vent should be no more than 6 feet. For your vent to work properly, it needs to feed into the drain line within 6 feet of trapways that connect to it. Using this formula, you should be able to determine whether you will need multiple vent lines.

Toilets typically connect to your main vent stack, a vertical pipe that runs through all finished levels of your home and exits through the roof. It’s located behind the walls, but if you have an unfinished basement or a utility closet, you may find a portion of it running the vertical length of the space. Some basement toilets use an air admittance valve instead, which is a small vent located in the wall directly behind the toilet that extends upward a few feet from the drain.

To avoid the high costs of plumbing repairs, watch for potential problems. If you see any signs of a leak, consider hiring a professional plumber. A pro can assess the level of damage and make the appropriate repairs.

Plumbing leaks are always better tackled immediately. You can also fix any minor repairs yourself or ask the plumber if they can use less expensive materials.
