"Mickey and his crew were incredible. When Mickey came out to meet with my husband and I, he went over every step of the installation process including the materials that would be used. On install day, his crew arrived on time and got to work quickly. Our roof was completed day one, and downspouts and gutters the next morning. Clean up was very thorough, they went over our yard quite a few times. I highly recommend M Mac Exteriors. We had received a few estimates and Mickey stood out against the rest. He’s knowledgeable, priced fair and was just an all around pleasure to work with."

"Overall the job went well. Spoke with Anthony the day prior. The job was complete within hours and the crew did a good job of not only installing the insulation but the cleanup was equally as good. Additional services were included and so the job went beyond our expectations."

"Paddy's were excellent to work with. They were clear about the estimate, gave us an install date and came when they said. They were very efficient and clean around the work area. They stayed within our budget and got the job done without any fuss. I would recommend them for your house repairs."

Eifs Installers questions, answered by experts

Because egress windows are meant for emergency exiting and entering, they need to be an accessible size. The smallest an egress window is allowed to be is 15 inches in width and height, with an opening of around 4 square feet.

The average cost to install an egress window is approximately $3,900, with a typical range between $2,500 and $5,300, though costs can be higher. The final price is influenced by several factors, including the window's size, type, material, and glass quality. Other variables include labor costs, location, excavation needs, and whether permits or a structural engineer consultation are required. The price of the window itself often depends on the number of panes:

  • Single-pane: $100–$400

  • Double-pane: $200–$500

  • Triple-pane: $300–$800

Additional features like window wells or covers will also increase the total project cost. It is advisable to obtain multiple quotes from professionals to get a comprehensive understanding of the expenses for your specific project.

To find and hire a reputable contractor for an egress window installation, you should first research local professionals and then vet your top candidates. Start by searching for local contractors who specialize in this type of work, read their customer reviews, and examine their website and portfolio. Once you have a shortlist, contact them to ask key questions: Are you licensed and insured? What is your specific experience installing egress windows? Can you provide references from previous customers? Do you perform the work yourself or use subcontractors? What is the estimated project timeline and your current schedule? How do you handle payment?

When you need new windows depends on a variety of factors, including the age of your windows, the age of your home, and the climate you live in. If you’re dealing with budget constraints, you don’t need to replace all your windows simultaneously.

When buying new windows, you should consider energy efficiency, safety, and aesthetics to choose the right window for you.

Basements are generally required to have windows for your safety. At a minimum, windows should provide an egress in the event of a fire. But basement windows do more than offer a way out; basement windows also offer natural light and ventilation in an area of your home that is otherwise dark and musty.
