"Mike came to give an estimate and was able to meet a short timeline as I needed 2 electrical outlets installed before the plumber came to install the water heater. Elliott came and got the job done on time and did good work. Elliot was very professional."

Small jobs welcome

"JDV Electric recently replaced my electrical panel and delivered outstanding service from start to finish. The technicians were professional, courteous, and extremely knowledgeable. Before beginning the work, they took the time to remove the panel cover and thoroughly explain the existing damage, as well as how to prevent similar issues in the future. Unlike other companies that simply provided quotes without any explanation, JDV made sure I fully understood both the problem and their proposed solution. Their attention to detail and clear communication set them apart. The team worked efficiently and left the work area spotless, it was as if they had never been there. It?s rare to have a contractor complete a job without needing any cleanup afterward. I highly recommend JDV Electric for any electrical needs, and I will absolutely be using them again for future projects."

"Bright Light Electric is, by far, the best contractor I have ever booked through Angie.  They responded to my request within seconds of my posting on Angie.  They were able to come out the same day and not only give me an estimate that was very acceptable but also gave me a quick electrical education.  Sumit with his men, Carl and Dave were awesome.  Here?s the sequence of my request.  Thursday requested on Angie, Sumit called me immediately and came out to see me 2 hours later. Sumit gave me a great quote to replace my old 1959 100-amp service with a 200-amp service. Friday Sumit had obtained the permit from my township, mind you the permit process normally takes a week, but Sumit and his quality work is so well known, he had the permit in less than a day. Saturday, Sumit, Dave, and Carl showed up at 9 am, right on time, and started working right away.  Not only are they extremely professional, but they are easy to talk with and educated me along the way.  Now being a retired Marine, I was impressed with their efficiency and focus on getting the job done, on time when they said they would finish.  Also, all along the way they checked in with me to make sure what they were doing was completely acceptable.  No detail was too small for them to ensure I was good with everything they were doing.  If you need electrical service, go no further, CALL THEM immediately, they will give you a great price, and perform the work exactly as they detail.  Payment was also extremely easy.  What a great team, I will use them as my go-to electrical team for everything I need going forward.  I trust them completely."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Before you start doing anything else, you must call your electric company to confirm their process. It is technically their meter that you’re moving, so there’s really no such thing as free rein. Moving the meter generally involves disconnecting power from the utility company, disconnecting the cables that run into your electrical panel, and dismounting the meter assembly. Once uninstalled, a handyperson will remount and reconnect the wiring in its new location.

No, it is not safe to use an outlet that sparked. A spark from an outlet could indicate a short circuit, loose or frayed wiring, or other serious damage. Continuing to use an outlet that sparks can increase the risk of electrical shock, electrical fires, and other hazards. It's important to turn off the power to the outlet at the circuit breaker if possible and avoid using the outlet until a licensed electrician has inspected and repaired it.

A Tesla Powerwall comes with a standard 10-year warranty that guarantees the unit will provide at least 80% power during this period. After this time, a Powerwall may continue to operate, even if at a reduced capacity for another 10 to 15 years. Other factors can affect the long-term performance and durability of your Powerwall, such as energy consumption and how often you charge the battery.

GFCI outlets help prevent dangers from ground faults that can cause shocks. This is a different issue that a ground circuit can’t fully address. It’s best to use GFCI outlets combined with ground circuits for complete protection for you and your electronics.

Grounding is an essential part of installing an electric fence. Without grounding, the electrical circuit will be incomplete. That means the fence won’t work and will fail at delivering shocks upon impact. Even grounding the fence improperly can cause faulty shocks, if any. To ground the fence, you will need to use ground rods, ideally made from copper or galvanized metal, that are at least 4 feet high, for best results.
