"I got in touch with Phillip, and he came very quickly to estimate the job. He was able to do the job within a week, and it took less than 2 days. The job involved removing an old split-rail fence (12 posts), carting away the debris, and then replacing it with a fence of 8 posts. The work is excellent, and the workers very courteous. I would use this company again without hesitation."

"Very well.  Rick and his lead carpenter gave me some excellent advice on re-designing the trusses for the project, and were very prompt and professional.  I elected not to go forward with project at this time because the bids for it all came in too high and I decided to scale the project down and pursue bids on the re-design at a later date.

"Came to my residence, took measurements, contacted a metal fabricator to who also came to my residence to review the work needed ,made the door from aluminum and installed it. O'Dell contracting called me to follow up and tell me when job would be completed. This is a reliable contractor who kept in contact to let me know the date it would be installed. After the job was completed he contacted me to ask if the work was satisfactory.I would recommend this contractor for any home remodeling. He is to be graded as an A-1 Contractor."

"We cannot say enough good things about this company and our experience with them. Leslie Dukehart was professional, courteous, and accommodating. The three-man crew was fantastic! The foreman went out of his way to find the necessary materials needed to complete the job the way we wished. All three worked together to make sure the special features we needed would look good. They worked quietly, quickly, were neat, and mannerly."

"Mr. Vidt did way more than I could have asked for. From the excavation to seamless transition throughout the completion of the project. I was so happy with the results I kept adding things to do... Without hesitation he adjusted and completed it all to 100% of my satisfaction. Completely impressed and happy with Vidt Enterprises. Work complete: excavation work , French door installed in basement, retaining wall, 25' x 25' tinted cement patio, sidewalk, landscaping. Also installed whole house generator for my family."

"We hired MGS to do general roof repairs and preventative maintenance on three different properties.  One of the properties had current leaks and the other two had prior leaks, but had been repaired by another contractor previously.  Scott inspected the roofs on those two and said we needed additional work to ensure we would have no problems.  I thought the price Scott quoted was fair and the quality of work performed to be good.   Scott was very responsive.   After a few months, we got a very hard downpour and one of the roofs had leaking.  Scott wasn't available until the next morning, but since we couldn't wait for fear of damage, we called another roofing company to come do emergency repairs.   We told Scott what the other company found and asked him to come take a look to make sure there were no other issues and to see the repairs for himself.   I really didn't care that a leak happened because I know issues can occur , especially with an older roof.  Scott came down, took a look at what was done, and performed some additional work on a parapet wall just to make sure we didn't have any future issues. It was tough to determine why the leak had happened so this work was preventative in nature.   He offered to do the work and only charge for materials, which was very fair.  The other two roofs have been solid with no issues.  It was nice to see that Scott stands behind his work.  He will be our roofer for all future projects."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

There are two things you can do to make a fence replacement easier—but keep in mind that easier doesn’t mean better. First, you can use a jack or some other type of machinery to pull the post out of the ground. If that’s not available, a digging bar can help.

Second, you can backfill the hole with gravel rather than creating a concrete footing. Keep in mind, gravel is less secure. You should only use it if you’re installing a lightweight fence or have heavier, clay soil.

The most common hog wire gauge for a fence is 12.5. However, you can choose from a few gauges based on your needs. While 12.5 is a reliable gauge for penning in large, strong animals, 9 gauge is a better option of you have large animals that are easily spooked, such as horses. For smaller animals, like dogs or pigs, you can use a 16 gauge hog wire.

Your wooden gate post hole should be a third to a half of the height of the post. Also, note that the diameter of the post hole should be three times the diameter of the post. You should set the post in concrete to ensure a long-lasting and durable post that will withstand the test of time.

Both nails and screws are common in fence construction, including on pickets. Some builders prefer to use nails when connecting the pickets to the rails and screws when connecting the rails to the posts. However, the best option usually depends on the type of wood fencing and the variety of wood you choose.

Paint your fence, install customized fence slats, or attach a bamboo screen for a more appealing yard aesthetic. Paint can give your yard a unique and fun look, and adding fence slats gives you a classic fence appearance. Bamboo screens are probably the most unique option that can add a fun vibe to your space.
