Customers say: Quick response

"You will not be disappointed!! I was contacted yesterday by Matt from KAF Built and advised that I needed some warped and damaged Siding replaced. Zack & Tim arrived the next morning, assessed what needed to be done, checked the type of Siding I needed, returned with the new Siding and replaced them. All completed within an hour. Wow!! They were quick, reasonable cost, professional, friendly & respectful of my property. I would definitely use them again!! I also provided their contact information to my HOA to pass it on to other Homeowners. And If their great work wasnâ t enough, they carefully removed a Snapping Turtle from my property & placed it towards the pond. ð ¯"

"We were referred by our neighbors and received a $400 discount. It all started with missing shingles and water leaking in our home due to damaged/warped wood decking. COVID-19/restrictions and rain/windstorms caused multiple estimates to be done slowly (over two months to wait) from April 2020 to June 2020. Encore was the only company willing to fit us in and complete work in June for us, even with their busy, filled schedule (other companies would not start/do work until July/August). Scott Boreman and Team are AWESOME, caring, and friendly! ?They are honest, hard workers. We loved the ease of working/communicating with them in person and via telephone, text, and email. Our neighbors praise the ? AMAZING new roof (especially the color) and new ridge vent! We commend and are grateful for the professionalism, expertise, kindness, diligence, and expedited service of Encore (Scott Boreman and Team). We will recommend Encore to our family/friends/colleagues."

Siding questions, answered by experts

While almost nothing is completely fireproof, metal siding is extremely fire-resistant. It’s non-combustible so while it may eventually melt in extreme temperatures, it won’t actually light on fire itself. This can add a layer of safety to structures that wood or vinyl siding can’t, making it attractive for industrial use. Metal siding can significantly slow down the spread of a fire, giving extinguishers and firefighters a much better chance at saving the structure and containing the blaze.

Whether or not your homeowners insurance covers EIFS stucco siding depends on the insurance company and the specifics of the policy. Some insurance companies will not cover EIFS due to its susceptibility to moisture damage, and some companies will only cover EIFS manufactured and installed after a certain date, since newer systems mitigate potential damage concerns better than older ones.

If you have stucco on the outside of your home, it’s technically considered cladding and not siding, but beyond that, it’s impossible to tell without a little digging. Without damaging the siding material, expose part of it to see if there’s an air gap between the siding and your exterior wall. If there is, you have cladding. If the siding is affixed directly to the exterior wall, you have a simple siding system.

Siding underlayment varies based on the type of material, but most siding is installed on top of a vapor barrier, a moisture-resistant house wrap, sheathing made from plywood or oriented strand board (OSB), and a layer of insulation sheeting. Having the correct underlayment is a critical part of properly installing siding and will protect your home from water intrusion, structural damage, and energy loss.

The main differences between dutch lap versus clapboard siding have to do with their design and texture. Clapboard siding features flat, beveled planks stacked at a slight angle, offering a simple, traditional look. Dutch lap siding features a subtly concave surface along with a notch that creates a shadowed look between the boards. This eye-catching design often resembles wood grain and introduces a noticeable shadow line, making it more visually interesting compared to the simpler look of clapboard siding.
