"I was very pleased with this company. They were kind enough to call and say they were running late. My driveway looks great and the employees who did it did a wonderful job. Their price was also reasonable. Would definitely hire them again when my driveway needs sealed."

"Rich and his crew did a great job resurrecting and adding on to my driveway. It was in pretty bad shape and the cut out the part of the driveway that had deteriorated from a previous water issue and tree removal. They brought in stone and tamped it all in and my driveway looks brand new. They also hauled in 3 yards of topsoil to blend in with the landscape. Very professional and would highly recommend!"

"Jason is incredible! He worked on my stone driveway. It is about half a mile, has a downhill slope, and it has not been maintained in over 6 years. Severely washed out. In less than 8 hours and with one machine he fixed it. I have lived here 23 years and it has never been this nice!"

Customers say: Quick response

"Robert Baker Masonry did an excellent job on our chimney reconstruction project. Our older home has a brick color that is no longer made. We initially thought we would have to use new brick that did not match the rest of our house, but Robert exceeded our expectations by carefully removing our old brick during demolition, meticulously cleaning it, and reinstalling it to make the repair seamless with the rest of our house. The chimney was rebuilt to code, reinforced where necessary, and has a clean, professional finish. Robert was respectful of our property at all times during the project, and it was all completed in a timely manner. I will certainly hire him again for future projects."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Think of the street as a way to capture all the elements on either side of the road, including the road—a street encompasses the homes or other buildings, the trees, and the road of a given area as defined by the beginning and end of the street on a map. A roadway, however, is the component of the street where cars travel.

While blacktop is a type of asphalt, the terms should not be used interchangeably, as not all asphalt qualifies as blacktop. The primary differences are in their composition, production process, and ideal applications. Blacktop contains more stone than other types of asphalt and is heated to a higher temperature during production—300°F or more—while hot-mix asphalt is heated to between 275°F and 300°F. The ratio of bitumen (a tar-like crude oil) is a key differentiator, though sources vary: some state blacktop has less bitumen, making it less durable, while others claim it has a higher ratio. Due to these differences, asphalt is generally more durable and better for high-traffic areas like highways and streets, while blacktop is more suitable for playgrounds and residential driveways. For a driveway project, it is best to consult a professional to determine the most appropriate material.

By grading and compacting the base soil, ensuring proper drainage and stability.

In terms of durability, concrete driveways can last more than 50 years when properly maintained, compared to the typical 30 years for an asphalt driveway. However, the durability depends on the climate, base material and thickness, and thickness of the concrete or asphalt used. The longevity of concrete or asphalt driveways also depends on how well it’s maintained and the amount of wear and tear it endures.

Regular cleaning, sealing, and timely repair of cracks help maintain its condition.
