"Nate arrived on time, had everything he needed to perform the tasks we contracted. The ceiling light went up without a hitch in about 20 minutes. I then mentioned that I would like his help installing our microwave which would complete the installation of new appliances in our new kitchen. He agreed and despite some difficulty with changing the bracket and conversion of one brand to another, it went pretty smoothly. The amount of effort he put into the installation of the overhead fixture was impressive. He was not going to leave until it was done properly, professionally and looking better than the work done by the builder's contractors in installing the light.  Nate seems to be able to do just about anything around the house, interior or exterior. We spoke about some other possible projects that we wish to undertake in the future and he will be first on my list to call.
Thanks, Nate for being part of the Angie's list family!

"we have an attached solarium that has been a cooling and heating challenge in spite of being zoned into our home air and heat since construction.  Jim responded quickly to our inquiry and suggested a separate cooling/heating unit rather than just adding an automatic roof ventilation fan as suggested by the original builder of the solarium.  Jim felt it could be done as a wall unit and not for too much more than the other company wanted to complete a roof ventilation unit, and Jim's suggestion would  not risk the roof integrity of the solarium.  He had the unit framed, installed, and sheeted to match the solarium all within a day.  And, he stayed under the maximum estimate.  He also helped arrange an excellent electrician, Rich O'Shea, who installed a dedicated 220 line for the unit.  This was an excellent experience- professionalism and integrity all the way!

"We received EXCELLENT customer service and design assistance from Terra. She was very responsive, answering email inquiries after hours, etc. When our builder abandoned us, she found to apply some discounts. Thankful for her compassion."

"Background:  I recently bought a home back in March 2012 from a developer, which was supposed to be a complete gut / renovation of a home in Lawrenceville to a complete new home standard (essentially just keeping staircase, floor joists, and brick wall).  Unfortunately when it came time for closing, there were many things wrong with the house and one of the areas of remediation was the entire interior wall and trims.  The previous contractor did a very poor job of prepping the drywall/trim prior to painting and also did a very poor job of painting. Because I did not feel comfortable with the initial work performed, I worked it out with the developer to do the repairs myself with payment coming from escrow funds.  I ended up performing an Request For Proposal ("RFP") process which involved getting bids from 9 contractors.
Pre-work process:  I ended up selecting UCP because of three primary factors 1) Overall quality reputation and reference, 2) Price, and 3) Knowledge and professionalism (i.e drug testing employees, also bonded and fully insured).  Rick Nitkiewicz, the owner of UCP, was very responsive throughout the RFP process.
Work performed:  Rick notified me ahead of time that Dan, his main lieutenant, would be the one in charge of my place and oversee all of the workers.  Dan and his team arrived promptly on time every day at 7am for the next 3.5 weeks and did his best to assure me that quality work would be done.  Dan cares a lot about his quality of work and ran a very tight ship with his workers.  He was very quick to response to text messages and phone calls about any questions and/or concerns I had throughout the process.  The job did take a bit longer than expected due to the extent of the remediation, but Dan kept me in the loop on the progress each day.  They did a very nice job on my trim and walls throughout the house.  Further they notified me of areas of the wall which needed further remediation (which I took it up with my developer to fix as part of builders' warranty).  Dan and his team were very courteous and considerate throughout the work process.
Payment:  We had arranged for the payment to be made in 3 installments, one at the beginning of work, one in the middle, and one at the end of work.
Post-work:  Dan and his team did a great job of covering my furniture and personal belongings and clean up after themselves at each step of the process.  My house was already furnished when I had to bring these guys in so they had to do a lot of moving stuff around so I commend these guys for doing an exceptional job working in these conditions.  They finished the job on Friday, but they has arranged for one finisher, Russ, to remain behind an extra day on Monday to touch up any areas I may have discovered over the weekend.  Due to the significant nature of work, there were obviously some areas of the house with sand dust that they missed cleaning up but overall I think they did a great job of cleaning up.
Overall:  UCP did an exceptional job!  I had my work colleagues and my girlfriend come to my place afterwards and they were all very impressed with the remediation work they did and the quality of work overall."

Yes, with proper heating or cooling systems and energy-efficient glazing.

Painting countertops can take a few days to complete yourself. However, keep in mind that it can take up to 14 days for the sealer to cure. So, you want to make sure you wait the manufacturer's recommended amount of time before using your countertops after painting them.

Sustainable materials and energy-efficient designs support greener construction options.

The quickest way you can protect plants and trees from frost is to cover them with garden blankets or frost cloths. Also, bringing potted plants or trees indoors is much simpler than trying to cover and protect them outdoors. Remember to anchor blankets with something such as sandbags, fabric pins, or rocks if the forecast calls for strong winds to keep them from blowing away and exposing your trees and plants.

Yes, proper grounding rods and conductors are essential for an effective system.
