"Cliff Wertz and George Wertz of Baker's Waterproofing were fantastic. Very polite and respectful of my daughter and me and of the property. They were very clean and worked extremely hard and were extra taxed by the heat, working in 90⁰+ degrees for two days doing very hard labor and precision work with the jacks. I would definitely have them back if I'd ever need anything else they provide."

"We had a concrete walkway and patio that was in need of repair. Several cracks and not level. We had several estimates to replace, which was very expensive. We had Lift It Pro give us an estimate on leveling the concrete. The owner was professional, answered all our questions. His price was WAY LOWER than replacing. We were given references to call. He completed the job in the time frame promised. Only one day to raise the concrete, and can use the patio immediately. If considering concrete replacement or repair, do not hesitate to call Lift It Pro"

"I recently worked with Justin Watson from Watson & Sons Construction on four projects across two properties, and I couldn’t be more satisfied. Here’s a quick work summary: -Garage Floor (Concrete flatwork): Justin expertly repaired cracks and resurfaced the entire floor, delivering a smooth, durable finish. -Concrete sidewalk & steps rebuild: Two sidewalks, including a four-tier walkway, were rebuilt flawlessly, improving both safety and aesthetics. -Concrete Patio Repair and Resurfacing: Justin revitalized our worn patio, enhancing both its appearance and structural integrity. From the start, he provided accurate estimates and reasonable pricing. Every project was completed on time and within scope, with no surprises. His outstanding communication kept us informed every step of the way. Overall, my experience with Watson & Sons Construction was excellent. Justin’s professionalism, expertise, and customer-focused approach make him highly recommended for any construction project!"

Small jobs welcome

"Rob was great to deal with. The project was to raise 2 large porch slabs that had settled due to the original contractor failing to provide adequate support at the house wall edge. Rob showed patience and experience in carefully raising the large slabs, preventing any damage to the slabs or to the wall stone at the rear of the porch that was at risk if the raising was not done right. I'm very happy with the finished job and Rob guarantees his work, offering to return at no charge if any unexpected settling in the future. A quality contractor. I would highly recommend his services. By the way, I found him via Home Advisor. Thank you!"

"Bathroom needed updated and Five Star was able to complete the project in a week. They addressed issues that came up unexpectedly, while also keeping to my budget. They were great to work with as they paid attention to the small details to make my bath appear larger than what it was like moving towel bar, using large patterns, added extra lighting, and installed wall mirrors. Work was clean, professional, and reasonable. Would def. hire again!"

Concrete Mudjacking questions, answered by experts

Pros often use mudjacking or polyurethane foam injection to level a sunken concrete patio. Both methods lift the slab by filling voids beneath it. After properly compacting the soil beneath it to prevent future settling, the concrete may need to be removed and re-poured for severe sinking.

Most houses are expected to settle over time, but foundation sinking of more than a few inches or uneven sinking of more than an inch for every 20 feet is cause for concern. Any significant or uneven sinking should be assessed by a professional to determine the cause and perform any necessary repairs.

Mudjacking typically takes 24 to 72 hours (one to three days) to dry and cure completely before you can resume normal use. The exact time can vary depending on the size of the project. Because the slurry mixture contains cement, it must fully harden to ensure that added weight from walking, furniture, or vehicles won't shift the concrete slab. A professional contractor can advise you on when the surface is safe to use. For comparison, if you use polyjacking instead, the polyurethane foam can dry in just a few minutes, but it's best to wait about an hour before use.

Mudjacking typically takes 24 to 72 hours (one to three days) to dry and cure completely before you can resume normal use. The total drying time can vary depending on the size of the project. Because the slurry mixture contains cement, it needs to harden fully to prevent the concrete slab from shifting under added weight. You should avoid walking on the concrete or placing heavy items like furniture or vehicles on the surface until it has fully set. Your concrete contractor can provide a precise timeline. As a point of comparison, if you opt for polyjacking, the polyurethane foam can dry in minutes, but it's recommended to wait about an hour before use.

Polyjacking and mudjacking can both be effective solutions for sinking concrete, but they have key differences. Polyjacking, which uses expanding polyurethane foam, is often considered a better option because the foam is significantly lighter than the cementitious material used for mudjacking. This reduced weight puts less pressure on the underlying soil and lowers the risk of future sinking. Polyjacking is suitable for any sinking concrete slab, while mudjacking is typically only recommended for non-structural concrete, such as sidewalks, patios, pool decks, and driveways. The primary drawback of polyjacking is its cost, which can be up to four times higher than mudjacking—as much as $25 per square foot compared to a maximum of about $6 per square foot for mudjacking.
