Very professional, always on call, friendly, and took care of our problem quickly. I highly recommend this business for any of my pest problems. My family and I will continue to use Ratt Orkin Inc. "Went great! Signed up for initial treatment of household pests. Serviceman Dedric came out on schedule, calling beforehand to be sure I was home and to let me know he was on the way. First treatment gave AMAZING results. Before the next scheduled service date a month or so later, Dedric called to see how things were going and if I needed any interim supplies, stopping by the next day to deliver them. He just came for the one-month follow-up and treated a few more areas, though we aren't having much of an issue anymore. We are to just let him know anytime we need him to return. He is easy to get ahold of, easy to reschedule with, and VERY EXPERIENCED in this field! He knew exactly where to treat before I even had to say it. Will definitely recommend this company and service provider to anyone in need!

"Terminix was quick to respond and to get out here for a termite inspection, which is what we needed. However, they signed us up for pest control and said their agent would be out to care for us right away. So far haven’t seen him yet. Will give 5 stars if that turns out well."

Pest Control questions, answered by experts

Based on infestation severity, semi-annual or annual checks are recommended.

The costs vary from $150 to $1,000 per visit, depending on the infestation size, business type, and treatment frequency.

Most people can get rid of drain flies within a week as long as they remain persistent. This is especially important if you’re using a gentler method like vinegar or boiling water. Any eggs left behind can hatch, and the problem can start all over again. If you can’t get rid of the flies within a week or two, consider hiring a pro.

Squirrels rely heavily on their sense of smell and are deterred by a variety of scents. Some of the most effective smells for repelling them include peppermint oil, coffee grounds, white vinegar, garlic, cinnamon, rosemary, and predator urine. They also have a strong aversion to capsaicin, the compound that makes chili peppers hot, making capsaicin-based sprays an effective repellent for areas like gardens or bird feeders. For a DIY solution, you can create a spray from garlic and vinegar and apply it daily. Additionally, squirrels dislike strong, fresh scents, so placing items like strong-smelling soaps or dryer sheets in areas they frequent can also help keep them away.

Scented mouse deterrents, like peppermint oil, can be effective in the short term. The pungent smells may temporarily repel mice, but they lose effectiveness as the scent fades or mice get used to it. The main drawbacks are frequent reapplication and the fact that these deterrents don't address the root cause of the infestation, such as entry points or food sources. While they can be part of a broader strategy, scented deterrents alone are rarely enough to eliminate a mouse problem.
