We are a small, veteran-owned local business, your safety is our priority. We inspect and test for mold and radon. SIS only performs testing and inspections, not remediation. We have no conflict of interest. For mold testing and inspections, you will receive a report that is clear and easy to understand with lab results interpreted. The mold inspector has done thousands of inspections and tests in the Delaware valley and keeps current with mold education. For radon testing, SIS uses Continuous Radon Monitors (CRM's) to perform short term tests. We provide professional test results and reports. PA state license # 3589 and nationally certified (NRPP).

"Bob from SIS is a straight shooter, provides options, clear explanations and associated costs on the necessary steps to remediate the problem. Good communication, timely and professional. Pleasantly surprised with my experience with SIS and the contractor they recommended to do the work. Easy 5-star rating, not too common these days."

Inspection firm that specializes in residential and small commercial inspections. We can evaluate indoor air quality, water quality, test and remediate mold, measure and mitigate radon, as well as sample for the presence of lead or asbestos.

"If you’re looking to get any type of inspection or home services then look no further. I recently became a customer of Justin Ake after trying to get my soon to be home inspected. Rick was dispatched to the property and went above and beyond, both explaining the inspection process and showing me key points in the houses plumping and drainage systems. As well as providing information on other tests and services the company performs. I don’t normally write reviews, but I have to say this is one business that takes pride in their trade."

We are a Family owned business and have locally operated in south eastern PA for over 25 years. We don't sub-contract any of our work. We take pride in our work, and in doing so, have become experts in Radon Remediation.

"I contacted three different companies to obtain estimates. Only one, RTE, offered to come out and inspect the property and thoroughly explain what would be needed. There was no pressure to sign a contract. The other two companies had me answer questions about the house and then sent their estimates. I was impressed that the owner of the company himself came out to provide the estimate. Their expertise, customer service, and quality of work far exceeded my expectations. I just got back the results of the post-remediation testing and level was reduced to 1.2, I highly recommend this company. They serve a wide area of the Delaware Valley."

"Dave did our home inspection, felt he was thorough, pointed out a lot in the house with a lot of detail in the report. The deal didn't go through (not because of the inspection), and we didn't hesitate to call him for another inspection when we found another house. Same experience, would definitely use him again."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

It is possible to test for radon yourself using DIY radon test kits, but these at-home test kits should never be a replacement for professional radon testing. DIY test kits can provide some information about radon exposure in your house, but your indoor temperature and humidity can affect the results, as can improper usage of the test kit. You could save yourself some money by hiring a radon professional to begin with, and when it comes to your family’s safety, hiring an experienced professional to do the testing is usually the best option.

Yes, most services include testing the generator to ensure functionality. Confirm with your provider.

Yes, DIY kits are available, but professional testing provides more accurate results and comprehensive reports.

A DIY kit can lessen the sting that comes with paying for a professional assessment, but these comprehensive tests are true lifesavers. Inspectors are more likely to catch all of the pollutants and hazards in your air. Plus, you’ll still need a professional to verify and act on your DIY test results.

Some kits don’t include tests for certain air pollutants or only detect their presence, but not their levels (i.e., mold spores). If you’re willing to shell out money for a DIY kit, it’s usually better to stretch your budget slightly higher for a more detailed assessment.

The only way to determine if you have a radon problem in your home is to have professional testing done. You can buy DIY radon test kits, but these are sometimes inaccurate in certain temperatures and humidity levels, and they don’t paint the entire picture in terms of your radon exposure. Scheduling testing once every two to five years is best. You can also look out for the following symptoms, which, according to the American Cancer Society, are symptoms of radon exposure:

  • Shortness of breath

  • Cough

  • Tightness in the chest

  • Difficulty swallowing

  • Hoarseness
