"It was awesome! Juan was so nice and personable. I met him as he was staining my neighbors deck and asked if he would do mine. He came over, I picked a color and he came the next day and completed the job. It looks great! Totally satisfied. He does lots of other work and I’ll be hiring him again for sure."

"I needed my deck re-stained. The process was really easy. They came out and inspected the deck. We reviewed color options and found something that matched my requirements. They had had an opening later that week, but I had to push back the date due my own availability. The deck was finished after a couple of hours, everything was cleaned up, nothing left for me to do. Overall the work and experience was very professional and would recommend."

"Called MK Painting yesterday morning and they were there by lunchtime with a quote. Power washed my metal awning that night and had it painted twice by lunch the next day. I also had an issue in the ceiling corner where we lit a chiminea and soot wouldn't come off. So they had to apply an oil base primer before they could paint since the power wash wouldn't get rid of the soot. I have a koi pond off my porch and they were very careful to put drop cloths around the pond and my new trek decking. Very professional and courteous and made sure paint didn't get where it shouldn't and put everything back the way it was. HIGHLY recommend this company! Thank you"

"Lactor and his team did an excellent job for our interior painting .Lactor himself is very professional, knowledgable and patient. He expedited our project within a week of the estimate. He provided suggestions and was available at all times. His team of painters were kind, professional, and efficient. Our project was large with 4 bedrooms/ living room/dining room/kitchen and they were able to complete the project in a timely manner. I highly recommend them for your next project! "Project took a little longer than expected with making the forms for the cement, as the man doing the work didn't understand exactly how Mark Pawling wanted it done. Mark was at a different job site and not available. However, once Mark was here things went much better. Overall he and his crew did an excellent job, and made sure we were happy with the job. The job started on Monday and was completed to our complete satisfaction the following week on Tuesday. I felt Mark really listened to us and did the work the way we wanted it done."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

You have a couple of options when choosing a durable pool deck coating. Epoxy is common and offers excellent stain and water resistance. Epoxy also withstands high temperatures and UV lighting, making it ideal for sunny spots. You can also add a coating to cement, which significantly lowers the temperature of the concrete, is environmentally safe, and makes cleanup a breeze.

It's okay to walk on a newly painted deck after about four to six hours as long as the weather has been dry. Be sure to wait at least 24 hours before you place any outdoor furniture or grills on a freshly painted deck, though.

Wood stain does go bad, but it will last in the can for between three and six years, provided you use proper storage techniques. Storing wood stain in open containers or in extremely low or high temperatures will cause your wood stain to become unusable much more quickly. Water- and latex-based wood stains typically last for just two to four years, while oil-based wood stains can last for three to six years.

Applying too much sealer to a deck might seem like extra protection, but it can cause more harm than good. Wood is a porous material with a limited capacity to absorb liquids. When you go overboard with sealer, the excess can't soak in and instead forms a film on the surface. This leftover layer is prone to peeling, cracking, and trapping moisture, ultimately defeating the purpose of sealing in the first place.

Opt for an interior wood stain that is rated for your type of wood. Consider your personal style preferences as well as the overall use of the room when choosing a color. Remember, the color you see at the store may look different on your actual floors once applied. This is why if you have the chance, it’s helpful to test a few options on a scrap piece of wood in the room first. Once you narrow it down, you can test a small patch on an inconspicuous area in the room to see it on the actual floors.
