"I needed my deck re-stained. The process was really easy. They came out and inspected the deck. We reviewed color options and found something that matched my requirements. They had had an opening later that week, but I had to push back the date due my own availability. The deck was finished after a couple of hours, everything was cleaned up, nothing left for me to do. The plastic in composite decking boards protects them enough that you do not need to paint them to prevent warping. In fact, painting composite decking voids the warranty of some manufacturers. Painting can also increase maintenance on the deck, as you must paint regularly to keep it looking its best.

It’s best to use an exterior latex acrylic paint to promote maximum adhesion to composite decking. This flexible paint type can better cope with the natural expansion and contraction that can occur with composite deck boards. Oil-based paints won’t adhere as effectively and are more likely to crack and peel as the boards flex.
