"It was awesome! Juan was so nice and personable. I met him as he was staining my neighbors deck and asked if he would do mine. He came over, I picked a color and he came the next day and completed the job. It looks great! Totally satisfied. He does lots of other work and I’ll be hiring him again for sure."

"I needed my deck re-stained. The process was really easy. They came out and inspected the deck. We reviewed color options and found something that matched my requirements. They had had an opening later that week, but I had to push back the date due my own availability. The deck was finished after a couple of hours, everything was cleaned up, nothing left for me to do. Overall the work and experience was very professional and would recommend."

"Lactor and his team did an excellent job for our interior painting .Lactor himself is very professional, knowledgable and patient. He expedited our project within a week of the estimate. He provided suggestions and was available at all times. His team of painters were kind, professional, and efficient. Our project was large with 4 bedrooms/ living room/dining room/kitchen and they were able to complete the project in a timely manner. I highly recommend them for your next project! "Mark Pawling and his crew recently installed stone veneer on our home and did an exceptional job! My husband and I witnessed Mark's hard-working team for two weeks and saw firsthand how skilled they are at their trade and conscientious, too. We also appreciated how accommodating they were when we had suggestions throughout the project. Great job guys!!! We couldn't be happier with the results. Many thanks."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Hangers are one way of attaching stair stringers to a deck. These metal hangers are usually adjustable, allowing you to find the ideal angle for a secure installation. They’re the best choice for installing longer staircases, such as one on a two-story deck, to reduce the load on the deck frame while keeping the stairs stable.

It is definitely worth sanding a deck to ensure the wood absorbs new stain. Sanding a deck removes the outer layers of aging wood, allowing the stain to penetrate. It also gives a fresh look to the entire surface as part of the deck refinishing process. Without sanding, your stain or sealant is less likely to absorb into the wood. While sanding a deck is a time-intensive project, the rewards are noticeable and long-lasting.

Yes, it is generally a very good idea to seal your deck after pressure washing. Power washing removes not only dirt and debris but also a thin layer of wood, leaving the surface exposed and more susceptible to weathering. Sealing is almost always needed after this process. After a general cleaning, sealing isn't automatically necessary if the existing sealant is still intact. You can test the surface by placing a few drops of water on it. If the water beads up, the sealant is working. If it soaks into the wood, it's time to apply a new sealant. If it has been a few years, it's wise to remove the old sealant, wash the deck, and reseal for maximum protection.

Deck staining or painting safeguards wood against the elements through its protective layer, enhancing decay resistance, prolonging structural integrity, and improving visual appeal.

It’s best to use an exterior latex acrylic paint to promote maximum adhesion to composite decking. This flexible paint type can better cope with the natural expansion and contraction that can occur with composite deck boards. Oil-based paints won’t adhere as effectively and are more likely to crack and peel as the boards flex. Testing whether your chosen paint will stick on an inconspicuous section or a spare board is a good idea.
