Small jobs welcome

"Desmond was responsive to my initial phone call, came to my house to measure and completely explained the process of installation of glass block windows in my basement. I wanted the installation of a glass block window with a hopper vent and another glass block window CUSTOMIZED to receive a vent that we made which was similar to a dryer vent. Desmond took our thoughhts to his window manufacturer, then followed with our CUSTOMIZED VENT to have it incorporated into a the glass block window. His window manufacturer did a perfect job in making the window to our specifications. Once the windows were made, Desmond came and installed them as planned. His work was quality in nature, reasonably priced and completed in a timely manner. Without a doubt, I would highly recommend Desmond for window replacement to anyone!!!"

"Denis and his work are the best! He is professional, communicative, reliable, and all of his work has been reasonably priced. He has repaired several masonry issues on my house, and all of his work has been high quality - both in terms of thoroughness and attention to detail. Your home is in good hands with him!"

"From 1st contact to completion of project, they were professional, courteous, extremely efficient and productive. They explained exactly what they were going to do, and did it exactly as they said they would. They made suggestions and told us how to prevent mold from happening in the future. Were happy to answer and address any questions we had. Would recommend them highly. Really a 5-star outfit."

"Overall I this was a mixed-bag of an experience, and I probably won't call Mr. Brouse again. He and his colleague Tommy were absolutely pleasant and professional, clearly more than competent, and they accomplished most of what we wanted, but several things bothered me about the service. First, we purchased a "Big Deal" coupon for "a day" (8 hours, I assumed, but it was unclear) of work for $249 on March 9th, but he wasn't even able to come in until May 22nd. He was pretty unresponsive to our calls and, eventually, our e-mails. No, it wasn't wildly urgent, but a little more responsiveness would have been nice. Advice I'd give to anyone buying an hourly service is to ask for a little more info before signing on. I think I misunderstood what I was buying, which has nothing to do with Mr. Brouse. Second, when he and his colleague arrived, it felt like Jim was there largely to manage Tommy and that our 8 hours was actually two simultaneous blocks of four hours, some of which was Tommy working and Jim directing him. There were parts of the job that required two people simultaneously (in particular a sticky dryer-vent job), but it felt sneakingly like I was getting more like 6 hours total actual work for the price (which was still a very reasonable price, yes). It ended up that they stayed a total of almost 12 hours (6 hours each), and I was billed only an additional $110 for the overage of hours which again, seems like a very reasonable price. They were gratifyingly flexible, however, I still think it would be to the customer's benefit to more fully understand what "a day"means as well as what the charges might be in case of overages. Third, when I just went to put some items on the shelves that were installed today, I discovered that while the four shelves are bolted to the wall, they neglected to screw the actual shelves to the support brackets! Instead, the shelves are simply resting on the supports, so I now have to do this part of the job myself. I had made it pretty clear that the shelves were a major priority, and yet the work was arranged in a way that meant they had to stay longer to complete the list, which meant I had to pay more, which was fine, if unanticipated. I didn't get the impression at all that this was intentional--the dryer-vent hose job took far longer than they'd anticipated--but it was frustrating that they didn't tell me in advance a) how long they'd need to stay and b) the price or at least an estimate of payment prior to overstaying the allotted time. Finally, one small thing that rubbed me the wrong way: while my husband was the primary contact via phone and e-mail, all their in-person dealings were with me once they arrived at the house (my husband was at work; I took a day off). Yet, as soon as my husband came home they wanted to speak to him, and led him downstairs to look at something they had noticed and that they were trying to get us to pay them to fix. They directed their commentary to him, and Mr. Brouse even said out loud, as he replaced the level they'd been using (without asking, I might add), "I'll just return your husband's level to the basement" after complimenting the quality of the level extensively. It seems inconsequential, but his assumption of a lack of knowledge on my part--and that the level could not possibly have been mine, since I'm a woman!--and how he kind of cut me out of the conversation, was pretty infuriating (especially since it was in fact my level).Again, these guys clearly know what they're doing, and they wrestled with a tough job at my house and probably didn't get paid as much as they normally would for all that hassle. However, the relative difficulty of getting them to fulfill their obligation, plus the other details, left me feeling like it wasn't totally worth it. I definitely would not warn others off using this service provider, but wanted to share my own experiences."

"We had some initial communication issues but they worked itself out.  The area was a small space that turned out to be a bit more difficult than expected such as the sink be installed poorly by a previous contracter but Chris was very professional and did a wonderful job.  He fixed the sink so it was installed properly.  He pays great attention to detail and does the job right.  I also used them to re-do my flat roof in the late Spring.  They got the job done right away and for a reasonable a good price.

Wave-pattern glass blocks imitate ocean waves with flowing lines. Ice-glass blocks resemble cracked ice. Fluted glass blocks feature parallel vertical grooves, adding texture and depth. Clear glass blocks, similar to glass Coke bottles, offer transparency with some distortion and may have smooth surfaces or subtle textures, adding visual interest.

You can still see vaguely into some types of glass block windows at night. Although there won’t be clear definitions, passersby may still see shapes, shadows, and movement through the glass. If you want complete privacy, consider installing diamond glass block windows rather than the typical clear or wavy glass blocks.
