I cannot say enough good things about our experience with the entire team of Alderfer Glass. From the scheduler to the receptionist to the installers, the Alderfer team was friendly, professional, punctual, and went above and beyond in every aspect of their service. I broke the glass in our shower door when trying to replace the 'sweep' at the bottom that helps keep the water in. Not only did they replace the glass, they also brought a replacement sweep and installed it at no extra charge. We didn't have a Shop-Vac to get the last bits of broken glass up and out, so they brought theirs and did the job for us. Everything was done with kindness adn skill. A strong recommend!

Our home was measured and windows are ordered.  Will be a couple more weeks before they come in and get installed.

Almost three weeks ago I took the custom frames made to match my bathroom vanity into Alderfer to have beveled mirrors made and inserted into the frames.  I picked a beveled mirror and handed over my frames.  When it had seemed that the gentleman had completed the transaction I asked if I could have a copy of my receipt for the services to be rendered.  I was told it "wasn't necessary" as mine were the only two white frames that had been brought in.  I left feeling more than a little worried.  I had nothing in writing as to what was supposed to be done or even the fact that they had my custom frames in their possession.  I was told the frames would be done in two weeks.  At the two week mark I called and was told that they were "running behind" and hopefully my mirrors would be done by the end of the week.  At the time I asked the gentleman what type of hanging hardware they put on the back.  He said they usually used eye screws and wire.  I said that would be terrific.  On Thursday I received a call that my mirrors were done.  At around 3:00 PM on Friday I went to the shop.  When I gave my name the gentleman carried out my two mirrors...face to face...thus my custom frames rubbing against each other.  He placed them on the floor and began ringing me up.  I noticed that there was no hanging wire on the back and asked why.  He said, "We didn't get them in".  He then went over to a displace and pulled off a package saying, "We can see you these that you can use, but these aren't what you need anyway!"  I said, "So my contractor has to screw the hardware onto the frames?"  "Yes".  I asked him where the mirror ended so my contractor would not have to worry about shattering mirror as he was screwing in the eye hooks.  He pulled the front mirror away from the back mirror about 4 " and said that the mirrors ended right where I could see them on the back.  He then asked me if he could carry them out to my car and I thanked him since carrying then would be difficult for me.  He picked up the two mirrors and placed them in my trunk.  I was speechless upon realizing that he had no intention of protecting my frames or mirror with any type of brown paper wrapping.  I said to him, "If I had known you weren't going to wrap these for protection I would have brought blankets to wrap them in."  He said, "Sorry."  At my suggestion he DID shove a few fabric grocery bags between the frames to keep them from rubbing against each other.  While I am basically happy with the workmanship,  there are a few small chips in the paint.  Honestly I cannot say if they were there prior to drop off or not.  I will try to get in touch with the cabinet shop where I bought the framing and see if they have any touchup paint.  I cannot, however, believe the unprofessional way this entire job was handled.  Over the years I have had numerous pictures framed at both The Miter Box and Michael's.  I have ALWAYS received a receipt, been shown the finished product for approval and then the item has been wrapped in brown paper for protection in transit.  In the future, should I need any more mirrors, I will purchase mirrors from Lowes and take them to The Miter Box or Michael's to be framed.  At least then I can guarantee to be treated professionally.  Shame on you, Alderfer.  I have had NUMEROUS windshields repaired and replaced by you since I moved here in 1979, all of which were handled professionally.  What has changed?
