"the coming out and inspection of area was great and they sent the original quote in an agreeable, if not a little slow, time. however they missed one item of estimate which they corrected. however, when I requested they split the two room I was told they would but they never came at the agreed time. i called several times as i needed for the insurance, the price seemed reasonable and i was going to use, the person denied he agreed to re-quote each room on its own and told me unless i paid i was not receiving any quote. i am actually relieved, u think i dodged a horrible situation. i cannot recommend however it would not be fair to advise against using the company, as i think the paperwork and not the repair work is what they are lacking."

I was very pleased with the work SL Contractors performed at my home. They completely remodeled my Kitchen and Bathroom.  They were running a special on Kitchens and Bathrooms, 25% off if I had them both done at the same time.  So I took advantage of the savings, which was a considerable amount.  I was not really sure how I wanted my kitchen to look. They had a designer go over many options as far as products, materials and floor plans. The designer drew a complete interactive blueprint just like on HGTV.  Complete with colors, cabinets, flooring, window treatment, the whole complete kitchen.  I was able to really get a good idea of what my finished kitchen would look like.  They completed the job on time just as it looked in the blueprint.  They took great care not damage or dirty the rest of my home.

?My adorable bathroom?.  The completed job is breathtaking.  They removed a wall to enlarge the room, to change my three piece bathroom to a four piece.  We had no tub.  They installed a walk-in shower with tile surround and floor to ceiling custom glass doors.  They also installed a soaker tub.  They included all the plumbing and electrical work too.  I feel that the price that I was charged is more than fair for the amount of work they had to do to give me the beautiful kitchen and bathroom.

"Tom was very personable and nice to speak with both when he visited our home as well as our meeting in the showroom. However as this was not our only estimate it was apparent that the quality of cabinets and materials as well as the ability of the installers was limited compared to other companies we had spoken with. Some examples would be that the items in the showroom seemed outdated compared to other products and materials we had seen and actually a lot like what we were trying to replace. When we spoke about our ceiling which continues into a family room and how to update the kitchen lighting without having to repaint and replace the entire family room ceiling the suggestion was to nail trim to the ceiling and thus create a break in a floor plan that is supposed to be one large room. When we asked about under cabinet lighting the suggestion was that since that involved a lot of electrical work that we could purchase stick up lights at Lowes afterwards. This seemed crazy given the cost of new cabinets. While their quote was the least cost of others it also was clear that it was not going to be a kitchen we would be happy with. For those who are extremely budget minded I think this would be a good option but otherwise if you want anything even remotely higher end this is not the place.

Glass Block questions, answered by experts

Glass walls are more expensive overall than their brick or drywall counterparts. However, if you need walls for a building with more than two or three stories, glass walls are the more budget-friendly option.

Glass block mortar is the best choice for glass block window units. It is specifically formulated for glass block window installation. Glass block mortar is usually a mixture of Portland cement, sand, and special chemicals. It is a white mortar that is applicable inside and outside your home. Do not use regular tile mortar because it may not have the binding strength and flexibility required for glass block windows.

Regular cleaning with non-abrasive cleaners helps prevent buildup and maintains clarity.

New glass costs anywhere from $3 to $100 per square foot. More specifically, tempered and insulated glass—a common option for sliding glass doors—costs between $10 and $14 per square foot.

Although glass block windows are made of multiple layers of thick glass, they can still break. If an individual block shatters, it can be removed and replaced, but this is a job for a window repair professional. The project is often complex and may require breaking the block further for removal. Do not attempt to handle it yourself, as the broken glass can be dangerously sharp. A professional will have the necessary tools and expertise to replace the broken glass block quickly and safely. Before hiring, confirm that the repair pro has experience with this specific type of window.
