American Buyers Custom Window Coverings

Jeff and Ben took our money ($1400.00) and ripped us off. Jeff came into our house bragging about his 45 years of experience yet put no for thought or planning into the job. We told him our needs; something to block out the 8 hours of sun that pounds the front of our house so we can sit and watch TV without being blinded by the light and of course we wanted them to look nice like they were custom made for the windows that’s why we were willing to pay so much and not just go to Home Depot. These blinds in picture were the only ones he showed us in opaque or blackout. We wanted some light coming in, we just didn’t want to be blinded by it, and yes we did make this point with him several times but he did not offer us any other options and said these blinds would work. Also, he only had a small sample so it would not have been possible to actually see how much light would come in at the time of our consult, but we trusted him, which is why we hired him, to know what would accommodate us best. He said they came with an energy saving rebate because they kept the house warm in winter and cool in summer. Please tell me how with 2 inches on each side how these will block out anything…light, heat or cold air. Why would the government give a rebate for energy saving blinds if the installer doesn’t install them properly? Another thing I will look into. The main issue that warranted a return visit was we couldn’t put our screens back in because of the handle at the bottom of the window and brackets from blinds installed at the top did not account for enough space for the screens to fit behind the brackets or the handle. Tell me Jeff with 45 years experience behind you this would not have been evident to you?! Surely this same issue would have occurred at some point in 45 years of installing blinds. I’m positive there have been handles on windows throughout a 45 year time period. When Ben returned for the second visit to fix the issue this is what we were left with, see picture. Since he had to move the blinds out so the screen would fit back in this is what we were left with. These blinds are so light that when our windows are open even the smallest breeze blows them forward which puts them further away from the windows. They are window blinds for WINDOWS that air blows through. If the weight of them is so light they will just blow forward. Again, where’s the 45 years experience here? This is science…wind blows… blinds move. Jeff you’re probably thinking I can’t please everyone, but what you should be saying to yourself is WHO would be pleased with this half *** job!? Oh yea, and the second time he came back to move the brackets so we could get our screens back in so we could have our windows open he doesn’t offer us some of our money back or any solutions, what he offered us was the black out blinds that he would be nice enough to give us at a discount of $400.00. Seriously, did you listen to us at all? We told you we don’t want those and we already gave you $1400.00 and got nothing that we wanted. We just ended up with an emptier back account. His motto is if you’re not happy I’m not happy…well guess what Jeff we’re not happy. Anything short of you coming back and resolving this will lead to me giving you a bad review on any site I can including the BBB. I will make as many phone calls as I have to and reach out to whoever I have to, to make sure consumers are aware of your incompetence before they hire you. If you didn’t have blinds that would correctly fit our windows and fulfill our needs at the time of our consult then we would have much rather heard that than paying for something that is useless to us, but then obviously you wouldn’t have made your sale or money!!

Jeff was fantastic! Right after moving into our house, we contacted him about blinds for our bedroom, closet, and bathroom windows. He brought a variety of samples, answered all our questions, made excellent suggestions, and guided us to the best choice for us. Several of our windows are old and very irregular, and Jeff took precise measurements that allowed him to install blinds that fit them exactly. A year later, we wanted to add blinds for our office and guest suite, and we called Jeff again. He was able to get us the same product, and again, installation went beautifully. We are so pleased with his work, his promptness, his thoroughness, and his general attitude toward what he does. We cannot recommend him highly enough!

As someone who knows little to nothing about blinds, I personally appreciated how open he was to any questions, comments and concerns. He transformed my house with new blinds! I had been in my house for 15 years without proper window dressings. Jeff was hired by my parents, whose family friend had used him for their house. He was supposed to do one blackout blind for a large living-room window. Halfway through his consultation, I asked him to measure ALL the windows. Why? HIs knowledge was obvious. He did not push product on me. He answered questions directly. His personality was engaging. And he had ideas for my house; more important, he adjusted them based off my own ideas. I ordered blinds for nine windows that day, and Jeff did the install himself a couple of weeks later. He only needed a few hours to finish the entire house, was attentive to furniture, and I was able to take a work conference call without distraction. Never would I have imagine loving window shades. But I do love these that Jeff helped me choose and later installed. And the lifetime guarantee is a big, big plus. So is the great cookie Jeff brings as a thank you.

Jeff cares about the result for you as a customer not you as a sale. We have used Jeff in two separate homes now. In our current home, new construction, Jeff spent about half a day with us planning each room where we wanted window coverings based on flooring, paint color, natural light direction, etc.. He took the description(s) of our wants and translated those in the actual covering type / material / color. When the planning was complete, the installation was done right and in a very short period of time too. We highly recommend American Buyers Customer Window Coverings and already plan to have Jeff back out for when the next round of coverings we need -- no other calls or research needed.

I had representatives from several different companies come to the house to see how prices and products compared. The Hunter-Douglas shades were the most expensive of the products I looked at, but I thought that the quality and workmanship were worth the extra money. And I believe they will stand behind their product if there would be an issue. I particularly liked 2 different individuals that provided this brand, but chose Jeffrey P. because of his extensive experience, knowledge, and relationship with the manufacturer. I felt he would do an excellent job for my project and he did. He was reliable, professional, and responded quickly to calls or texts. The shades were ordered and installed in a timely manner and my husband and I are more than satisfied. We can finally eat at the kitchen table without the heat and glare from the sun making it almost unbearable. We had motorized shades installed in our hard-to-reach great room window and the remote control allows us to easily determine the amount of sunlight we want coming in. I would highly recommend Jeffrey and American Buyers Discount for any window treatment needs. I believe they also provide services related to floor coverings and some other home furnishing needs.

He measured the windows for sizing, placed the order, and arranged for installation. We were extremely happy with the results.
