"Mike was great!  My house is a bit confusing to find, but Mike kept calling and working it out to find it.  When he finally did, the HONESTY floored me!  He gave me a decent quote on replacing the railing but stated "i don't want to tell you how to spend your money, but you shouold replace the steps first." 
He basically told me to take my time and find someone to replace the steps in the Spring and not to get a good railing put in until I do.  A railing right now on my curved stairs would be $995 - which is the BEST estimate I've gotten so far.  However, if I wait until the spring and replace the steps first, without a curve in them, the railing would only cost me about $595.  He then went on to suggest how to temporarily fix the problem for the winter and how much it should cost me.
I plan to call Mike in the Spring.  His honesty was rally a breath of fresh air.  Yes, I would recommend him 10 times over just because of that.
