Mike, the owner/installer is a great guy.  He is punctual and knows his business.  His price is very fair and reasonable probably because he offers only one type of railing.  Customer has no choice of selection of railing.  Mike will paint the railing any color you want but the style is the same. It is a very basic functional railing....which is fine if that is what you want.  A complaint I have is that the railing does not feel like it was "finished".  There are some rough spots/edges that Mike suggested I sand lightly if it is bothering me.  I would have preferred that he sand it smoothly himself at his shop before painting it.  It only took Mike and a helper 1 hour to install all four railings (which included a supporting post and drilling through a metal pole....that was very welcomed.

Mike was very professional and cordial from beginning to end. Was available the following day after I initially spoke with him to evaluate the job and provide a quote. Indicated that it would take up to 2 weeks to fabricate and install depending on weather but ended up taking just 7 days to complete. Even went the the extra mile to fill in some existing cracks on the stairs with the extra mortar compound used during the installation. Very pleased with the overall experience and wish there were more service providers who are like Mike.

Worked well--as planned and promised.
I am a little surprised that filigree elements in the corners between the posts and the rail are decorative but do not share in holding the railing in position.

They did a terrific job even though it was a more complicated railing because of the curve.   Very friendly and professional.

My son's house needed a new handrail in order to be eligible for a neighborhood facade grant. Since he lives out of town, I solicited bids for the project. The first bid we received was very high and the material was very unattractive. I found Helping Handrails on Angie's List. Michael met me when he said he would. He gave me a fair price for an attractive handrail. He personally fabricated the handrail and put the handrail in ahead of schedule. I was very pleased with the appearance and the whole process from bid to installation. I would highly recommend this company. I have already given his cards out to several people.

This guy was great. Came out, explained the rail to me, showed me an example of his rail. I didn't love one of the more ornamental pieces of the railing and he said he could just make the railing without it (which he did). He installed the railing while I was at work, then called to make sure I liked it saying he could remove it and start over if I didn't. He then told me the railing has a lifetime warranty - his lifetime.
Really can't recommend him enough and I am very picky and was nervous about just calling a handrailing guy on craigslist. He does nice work and is a nice person.

We received several quotes from various vendors, and decided to go with Helping Handrails as their quote was competative and Mike the owner seemed like a very trustworthy contractor.  Mike fabricated the railing in 2 weeks, and installed and the railing looks great.  I would use Helping Handrails again, and would reccomend to friends and family.

We used this vendor because he painted as well as primed the rails. Design was simple, pretty, and functional. Rails were installed well. Finish was guaranteed. We would use again if we needed more handrails.

Terrific. He contacted us promptly and came out to the house to see the area and measure. Within the week he was back and installed the handrail. It looks great and we couldn't have asked for better service!

He is a nice person. He did the job and he left. I didn't have to wait around. He came before he said he was going to come and he did the job.

Within days of taking tape measurements, Mike was here, on the job, drilling through concrete.  Mike completed everything, in less than a week. He was, without a doubt, the cleanest, tradesman, I've ever had, in my home.

He has made me safe, in my home, again; due to a crazy illness, I lost all balance, and needed to learn how to walk again. Mike wanted me to feel comfortable, again.

He covered all bases,  in that regard!!!  Thank you, Mike!  Veery well done!!!!!

I thought I wrote a review of this a couple of years ago when the work
was done, but Angie's list has been emailing me for the past few
months to write a review.
Michael Evonich came at my request to make an estimate on installing
handrails on two short sets of steps from the sidewalk to our front porch.
His estimate was good and we arranged for the job to be done and he
came at the arranged time and installed the handrails as promised in
good time and an excellent job.  We were very pleased with every aspect
 of the job.
It is now so long ago that I don't remember the date nor the cost.
(It may well have been a lot more than the $200 I posted for this
review).I only know that I was very pleased with the job and with the cost.
I am wondering if the reason we are now being asked to review this job is
because of the classification used in an earlier review.  Neither
"wrought iron" nor "fences" seems to accurately describe manufacture and
installation of handrails at steps, but those are the two categories
offored for Mike Evonich's services.  Whatever the classification
applicable, we were very pleased with Mike Evonich/Helping Handrail's
services, would use him again for similar or related work, and would
recommend him if someone were seeking those services.

Mike was wonderful.  He came out and looked at the job and got back to me very promptly with an estimate, both cost-wise and installation-wise.  He was true to his word both in price and the date of installation.  Though I never had the pleasure of meeting Mike in person (all my contact was over the phone), my Mom found him to be a very professional and extremely polite man.  We are very pleased with the work Mike did and my Mom is thrilled!  I would recommend Mike to everyone I know.  He is honest, does a great job, and is very pleasant to communicate with.  It's so nice to have a pleasant experience when dealing with contractors.  Though this was a small job, Mike treated us royally.  Helping Handrails is a first-class company, owned by a first-class guy!!

Mike was great!  My house is a bit confusing to find, but Mike kept calling and working it out to find it.  When he finally did, the HONESTY floored me!  He gave me a decent quote on replacing the railing but stated "i don't want to tell you how to spend your money, but you shouold replace the steps first."
He basically told me to take my time and find someone to replace the steps in the Spring and not to get a good railing put in until I do.  A railing right now on my curved stairs would be $995 - which is the BEST estimate I've gotten so far.  However, if I wait until the spring and replace the steps first, without a curve in them, the railing would only cost me about $595.  He then went on to suggest how to temporarily fix the problem for the winter and how much it should cost me.
I plan to call Mike in the Spring.  His honesty was rally a breath of fresh air.  Yes, I would recommend him 10 times over just because of that.
