"Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

"Friendly, knowledgeable. Came to home twice. Once for estimate and again to do the work. Called both times to say they would be late. First visit 1.5 hours late. Second visit an hour late."

"I have had the pleasure of working with “Vacirca Home Improvement on a full bedroom and bathroom remodel andcouldn't be happier with the results. From the initial consultation to the final touches, his professionalism and attention to detail truly stood out. In the bedroom, he transformed the space into a serene retreat, using high-quality materials and creative designs that matched my style perfectly. The layout was optimized for functionality while maintaining a cozy atmosphere. The bathroom remodel was equally impressive. The new fixtures and finishes not only elevated the aesthetics but also enhanced usability. He was knowledgeable about the latest trends and offered great suggestions that I hadn’t considered, which added significant value to the project. Throughout the process, communication was seamless. He kept me updated on progress, timelines, and any adjustments needed along the way. Closets questions, answered by experts

When you are securing your DIY home office built-ins to the wall, you should start by locating the wall studs. You'll then want to use long screws to attach the cabinets, shelves, and bookcases directly to the wall studs. Your built-ins will be far too heavy to attach to the drywall alone by using anchors.

Costs depend on material, customization level, and additional features like lighting or sliding doors.

Yes, 12-inch shelves are often considered the standard closet shelf depth for storing folded clothing, shoes, and small containers. However, if you plan to store bulky items such as blankets, baskets, or cleaning supplies, you may want to go deeper. For specialized layouts, an adjustable system can give you more flexibility.

Plywood offers excellent stability and strength for drawer construction. Baltic birch plywood provides a premium appearance, while standard hardwood plywood offers good value. Solid wood works well but requires more attention to grain direction and seasonal movement.

Some features and upgrades you can add (some of which increase the closet’s value) are: modular shelving, motion-activated lighting, climate control, custom lighting, cigar humidors, revolving shoe racks, jewelry shelves, custom woodwork, and built-in laundry hampers. While only truly luxury closets have all of these, many custom closets have at least one special feature listed above.
