"I am a first time customer of your service. The performance and friendliness of your professional team was beyond the par of great service today at my residence. I had over a foot of snow on my property and your team was called upon after witnessing your snow removal services in action for one of my neighbors. A friendly request to help me with my driveway as well, yielded a warm welcome from your team. The speed and hardy performance of which your team responded to my service needs was impressive. I have been wowed by your team and very much look forward to hiring them again for my future property enhancement endeavors."

"Malachi’s Keystone Lawncare goes way beyond lawncare. After the snow storm this past weekend dropping almost two feet of snow in East Stroudsburg PA I was literally trapped in my home. Malachi came to the rescue and dug my car which was completely encapsulated in snow and ice doing an extremely professional job. He also cleated my steps walkway and other property so I can now freely and safely leave my home. I recommend Malachi’s Keystone Lawncare as he is second to none. I also plan to utilize his services for lawncare projects."

"Jason, his brother, and team did a great job of removing English ivy and shrubbery that had grown out of control in my yards Using equipment, they made swift work of the removal, added screened top soil, and reseeded with a good quality seed that began growing within a week (with rain and watering). I highly recommend this company for landscaping work."

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

It’s possible to use a torch to melt ice on your garage door, but we don’t recommend it. It’s very easy to bring the flame too close to the door, which can melt the weather stripping or even the garage door itself. You’ll melt ice quickly with a torch, but the damage you’re likely to cause can end up costing you a few hundred dollars to fix, which isn’t worth it. Instead, we recommend pouring hot water over the frozen area or using a less intense heat source, like a hair dryer or space heater.

Ice dam removal costs anywhere from $650 to $2,000, with most people paying about $1,200 for this service. The price you pay will depend on a few factors, including the removal method. If your pro uses salt or tablets to get rid of the ice dams, you might only pay $200 to $300. But if they use steam, your costs could increase to $800 to $1,200.

Generally, snow removal from a roof should occur once over six inches of snow accumulates, especially if you notice that ice dams have formed. Without ice dams, you can let the snow accumulation hit 12 inches before removing it. However, the amount of snow that is too much for your roof also depends on the sturdiness of your roof and the compactness of the snow. If your roof needs maintenance or has structural issues, it’s best not to let the snow accumulate too much for fear of collapsing.

Yes, but it works best with lightweight snowblowers, the single-stage models or electric versions. Also, you need to have a rubberized intake edge on the ground and preferably rubberized auger paddles, not a metal version. Otherwise you may chip or damage the surface as you work. When it doubt, let the snow lie.

You can also use a snow blower on leveled gravel, but only if you carefully adjust the intake height so it doesn’t kick up the gravel and turn it into flying missiles.

It’s the reverse of home de-winterization. To winterize, you purge your plumbing system (including your water heater and all piping) of water. Some experts also recommend filling fixtures with an antifreeze solution. Other tasks involve winterizing sprinklers, sealing foundation vents, check weatherproofing around doors and windows, and more.
