"We are highly satisfied. This is our second experience with Mendoza Stone Masonry's work. The first was 5 yrs ago building our fire place at home and, again we had the pleasure to let our business project to the professional team of Mendoza Stone Masonry's, and as before, it exceeds our expectations. Keep the good work. Thank You."

"Made my dream come true!! In addition to their wonderful craftsmanship, they duplicated a step my father created for the front of our porch at the back of the porch. Just the best experience ever from start to finish. Very understanding - willing & able to communicate a change in design on the spot - they had a much better idea!! Reliable and punctual. Great team work. The entire crew was pleasant, talented - just remarkable.. I hope to need their services again. Well we did meet again!! They came back to spread 10 cubic yards of wood chips in the garden next to my beautiful sidewalk. Hard labor - shovel and wheelbarrow. They were meticulous is spreading the chips around existing plants and spreading it evenly. Now I have two huge reasons to smile whenever I look outside!! Believe me - I hope to have them back again!"

"This was, by far, one of the best experiences we've had working with a contractor - and we've worked with a bunch over the past several years. Tom was very responsive, professional, reliable, and delivered what was promised. Pricing was reasonable for the scope of the project. His crew was incredibly hard working - I was home throughout the completion of the work over several days and was amazed by what I saw. When we were a few plantings short of what was included in the contract, he didn't nickel and dime us as most contractors would, which we really appreciated. We're very pleased with the results and would definitely hire them again for future projects!"

"Our experience was exceptionally good with Basement Waterproofing Specialists. Aaron was thorough and very helpful during the consultation. He explained everything in a way that was easily understood. The installation crew was courteous and focused on the task at hand. They took measures to minimize the dust and debris during the installation. When the work was completed, the site was swept clean and left very tidy. I would definitely recommend BWS for waterproofing!"

"Marco is very kind, personable, and you can tell that he has been in the field for a long time. We called him for an estimate, and he was at our house soon after to provide one. His estimate was fair, and he was available at a time that worked well for us.

We were nervous about dust and dirt accumulating with the work done in the kitchen... the center of our home.  But with our super-sensitive kids around, Marco was very conscientious and was sure to clean up at the end of each day.  He used the tile and grout that we purchased, and was able to make the most of it.

I was a bit skeptical at first, but the final result is breathtaking!
We will be reaching out to him again in the near future for more home projects.

Masonry questions, answered by experts

When it comes to how to paint a brick chimney, consider that standard paint can seal in moisture and cause serious chimney problems. Instead, use a vapor-permeable sealant. You’ll first scrub and sand the chimney; then, you can patch any gaps with caulk and apply the sealant. We recommend hiring a pro for this job since it entails working on the roof, which comes with a lot of necessary safety precautions.

Some older brick material is extremely hard, making it tough to create a hole. Rather than using a typical wood drill bit, always use a masonry drill bit when drilling into brick. For extremely hard brick, using a power drill with a hammer function may give you better results. The drill bit will heat up as it goes into the extremely hard brick, so you may need to stop after a few minutes and allow the bit to cool before starting to drill again.

No, you don’t need to soak the brick before cutting it by hand. In fact, cutting a wet brick can make it harder to see your score lines and may cause the chisel to slip. Soaking is sometimes used with power tools to reduce dust, but for hand-cutting, it’s best to work with dry bricks for better control and visibility.

No, you shouldn’t lay bricks directly on dirt. While it might seem like a shortcut, it leads to a patio that shifts, sinks, and becomes a maintenance headache. Dirt expands, contracts, and erodes—none of which mix well with long-term stability. To build something that lasts, excavate the topsoil, compact a layer of crushed gravel, and add a coarse sand-setting bed. This layered base gives your bricks proper support, allows drainage, and helps block weeds from creeping through. Cutting corners here just means you’ll spend more time—and money—repairing your brick patio later.

The exact cost of bricks depends on the type and size of the bricks you use for your project. Generally, standard clay bricks cost between $350 and $850 for a thousand bricks, or an average of $550. Brick veneer costs around the same for materials but is easier to install than solid bricks, so you’ll save on labor by choosing this option.
