"Grady did an awesome job! I've dealt with many shady contractors and Grady is nothing like them. He's honest, dependable, fair, and will be upfront with you. I never once felt like he was just trying to "get one over on me" because I'm not knowledgeable about these things. He is clear about telling you the why behind the cost of materials and labor. And he gets it done right the first time. In a world full of shady contractors, he's a breath of fresh air. And he's once of the nicest people you'll ever meet!"

"I've had a shed in my yard that was deteriorating and it was time for it to come down. I found Cargo Milani on Angi. It was out of the scope of his normal business but I thought I'd see if he was willing to take it on. I am delighted to say he was. He reached out immediately and the shed is now gone. Joshua was professional, extremely accommodating, going over and above my expectations. He showed up early, was reasonably priced and was very respectful of the property. Not only did he disassemble the shed, he emptied it first as I could not, and then hauled away not only the shed but the contents I did not want to keep. If you have a project like this I urge you to reach out. You will not be disappointed."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

The screen on many screen doors is held in place by screen spline. Screen spline is typically a thin vinyl tubing that fits into the groove of the door’s frame and holds the screen in place. To install the spline on a screen door, you’ll need a spline roller—a tool that presses the spline and screen into the door’s narrow groove. Note that old spline can crack and break, so replacing your screens is a good time to replace the spline, too.

It is generally recommended to remove window screens for the winter, especially in climates with heavy snow, freezing rain, or frigid temperatures. Removing them helps prevent damage to the screen mesh and frames that can be caused by ice and moisture buildup between the screen and the window. Taking out the screens also allows more natural light and warmth into your home during shorter winter days and makes it easier to clean your windows thoroughly. In warmer climates where harsh weather is not a concern, the decision is more about personal preference; some homeowners prefer the clearer view, while others leave them in for convenience.

Window repairs cost $175 to $615, depending on the type of repair. Because double-hung windows have two sashes and multiple pieces of hardware, like locks and handles, there are many parts that can break over time. Repairing locks, latches, or other hardware costs about $75 to $200 and is easy to DIY. Fixing one or multiple sashes costs about $200 to $600.

Yes, you can add a screen door to most door frames. The screen should be able to fit standard-size door frames, so unless you have an unusually sized door, you shouldn’t have an issue. Just make sure to properly measure the frame. When in doubt, it’s best to let a pro take care of this task for you so it’s installed correctly.

Solar screens are low-maintenance but benefit from occasional cleaning with mild soap and water. Avoid using harsh chemicals or pressure washing, as these can damage the mesh. Inspect screens annually for tears or loose frames to maintain performance. In dusty or coastal areas, more frequent cleaning may be necessary to prevent buildup.
