"They are excellent. Our water is very hard and it normally corrodes things. We are already noticing a big difference in our water quality. We are pleasantly surprised and we would highly recommend them to anyone."

"Dante the technician was very knowledgeable, and friendly, and fixed the problem. with the well water system not working. in a timely manner. He reprioritized his work schedule for the day in order to get to our well water problem in a hurry, and I appreciate that very much."

"Evergreen completely replaced my entire plumming from the wellhouse to the mainhouse. Also replaced all 1940's old pipes. I now have water pressure and have no worries of plumming failure. All of the employees that were at my home were personable, friendly and very knowledgeable. Everyone explained all of the process as they worked. I feel like part of the Evergreen family now. I'll never use anyone else."

"Evergreen Plumbing & Mechanical replaced 2 20+ year old water heaters.  I changed from 40 to 50 gallon tanks.  This was the  most professional service I have received in years.  That morning at the exact time expected the truck showed up with 2 hot water heaters.  Within seconds Evergreen arrived with 3 people to remove and place the new tanks.  Evergreen handled everything right down to permits etc.  This could not have been eaiser and a huge savings from using either of the big box stores.  I have already passed his information to my neighbor.

"Blakely did the plumbing work on a new bath that we put in last year (everything turned out great!), so we were familiar with the company when we called them for this additional service for the old bathroom. Initial inspection was performed by Mr. Blakely himself; followup installation was done by his assistant. Both are cordial and professional in manner. Work was completed well and in a timely fashion. We also discussed a longer-term project to replace our kitchen sink, and were invited to visit the Blakelys' own kitchen to view one faucet option. Not the kind of treatment you'd get from Lowe's! Would definitely recommend this business.

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

No. You should never directly drain a water softener into a sewer cleanout. This practice is illegal in many areas because it could allow raw sewage to get into your drinking water and make you seriously ill. Many places have codes requiring a specific seal, pipe, and a large air gap between a water softener and a sewage cleanout. Check out Florida's Plumbing Building Code as an example of what these restrictions might look like.

Routine maintenance involves recharging the resin bed with salt or potassium, cleaning components, and periodic inspection.

Experts recommend that you put two to four bags of potassium chloride in your water softener every month. This amount depends on how much is in the bag (40 pounds is most common) and what your water softener manufacturer recommends. For more specific advice, talk to a water softener pro in your area and read the manual that came with your system.

The chemicals in a water softener can wear down the anode rod in the heater and shorten its life span. However, for most people, the benefits of the softener outweigh this potential drawback.

Have a plumber inspect the anode rod annually for damage, as replacing the anode rod is far less expensive than replacing the entire water heater.

Hard water doesn’t hurt, but it might feel more abrasive, especially if you have sensitive skin. It’s also about how your skin feels after bathing. You might feel as though you have a sticky film over your body because you do—it’s all that soapy residue left behind because the hard water can’t rinse it off completely.
