"Super good and fast. Only company to call me back after a leak sprung on the weekend. Replaced a section of pipe in my tight crawl space and installed a water shut-off valve under my sidewalk--all in less than 2 hours. No leaks. Easy to turn off water. They get paid by the job (not by the hour), so no wasted time. Plumbing is spendy though."

"I have very hard water and wanted a unit installed. I called Ecowater Northwest because they were local and had excellent ratings on Angie's List. Aaron came to my house, answered all my questions, tested my water and recommended the two units I had installed. Dave did the installing and did an excellent job. I am very happy with the results and would recommend them to anybody that needs this type of service."

"Evergreen Plumbing & Mechanical replaced 2 20+ year old water heaters.  I changed from 40 to 50 gallon tanks.  This was the  most professional service I have received in years.  That morning at the exact time expected the truck showed up with 2 hot water heaters.  Within seconds Evergreen arrived with 3 people to remove and place the new tanks.  Evergreen handled everything right down to permits etc.  This could not have been eaiser and a huge savings from using either of the big box stores.  I have already passed his information to my neighbor.

Small jobs welcome

"I would absolutely recommend Joe for any well water issues. After months of having troubles with air in our water lines and multiple attempts by other companies to solve the problem, Joe came out and knew just what was wrong. He was very kind and took the time to explain to us how different parts of our water system worked and explained what he was doing to correct the air problem. Joe is my new go to guy for any well water problems in the future!!"

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

Yes, a water softener can remove scale deposits. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, after you add a water softener to your home, “gradually the softer water will dissolve limescale scale deposits and remove the problem entirely.” Installing a water softener—or water descaler—will also help prevent new scale deposits from forming.

While it depends on how complicated the unit and installation is, it takes two to four hours to install a water softener unit, on average. It might take longer if pipes need to be replaced. You should make sure the installation area is clear of any objects that might get in the way before you begin.

There are several things that can shorten the life of a water softener. Homes with very hard water may have to replace the unit sooner because the water softener works harder to filter out the hard minerals. High water usage and infrequent maintenance can also put more strain on a water softener.

The main difference between a water softener and a water filter is what they remove from the water. A water softener is specifically designed to remove hard minerals, while a filter removes a wider range of contaminants above a certain size, such as bacteria and other impurities. If your primary goal is to remove minerals, a softener is the best choice. If you want to remove various contaminants for safety or taste, a filter is more suitable. Filters are also typically less expensive to install. Depending on your water supply's specific issues, you may need to install both systems for comprehensive treatment.

No. You should never directly drain a water softener into a sewer cleanout. This practice is illegal in many areas because it could allow raw sewage to get into your drinking water and make you seriously ill. Many places have codes requiring a specific seal, pipe, and a large air gap between a water softener and a sewage cleanout. Check out Florida's Plumbing Building Code as an example of what these restrictions might look like.
