"The first carpet install had problems......carpet tight weave and pad was ultra thick. I took photos...they booked a day. I got a plush carpet with the plush pad. Amazing...."

"Armando was very response and very patient with our Company changing things up several time. Every time I asked him to revise his quote he did it immediately and was very professional. I would highly recommend his company. He came in got the job done quickly and the flooring looks absolutely amazing. He installed wood flooring in a 1500 square foot apartment and then installed carpet on a entire stairwell both jobs were well done. Before Armando and his crew left the job the entire apartment was swept and all debris was taken with him. Outstanding job highly recommend this company. "I contacted Travis with Stain Steamers to clean my windows, carpets and couches. He was very quick to respond, was very honest on price, and didnâ t try to upsell me.. which in the past with other companies it seemed like thatâ s all they did. I have multiple cats and dogs and Travis was able to clean my carpets and deodorize them with ease. His professionalism was top notch, offered fair and honest pricing, and even several discounts. He worked around my schedule and and price range. I will definitely be hiring them again!"

"We weren't that happy with the results. It was a few years ago, and the surface is still pretty much intact. He had to use a primer and deck paint, rather than stain, and the primer showed through in several places as bright white marks against the dark brown stain. He left the extra paint so we could refinish where we wanted. We don't want or expect any follow up at this time. I understand that the deck needed a lot more work than the worker expected. So, my experience may not be a fair representation of this particular contractor.

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Depending on carpet type and labor, costs range from $3 to $12 per square foot.

Carpet is an effective natural insulator, so it will make a room slightly warmer than laminate. The material’s insulating properties also make carpeted rooms more efficient for temperature regulation.

Carpet padding costs an average of $510 to purchase and install in a 225-square-foot room. The price can range from as low as $170 to as much as $850, depending on the brand, the thickness, and the labor cost. Although carpet padding will increase the overall cost of carpet installation, it also helps the carpet hold up longer, reduces noise in the room, and provides more insulation.

Yes, you can negotiate the purchase price of new carpet. You may also be able to negotiate installation costs or other fees in addition to the per-foot pricing of the carpet itself. You may have better luck negotiating with an independent retailer (as opposed to a big-box store), as they may have more discretion in pricing, but it’s always worth asking.

While not always required, experts recommend removing baseboards before removing old carpet and installing a new one. This practice leads to a smoother process and a cleaner, more professional-looking finish. Removing the baseboards allows for a seamless carpet installation without the risk of damaging either the carpet or the trim. It also provides a good opportunity to repaint or stain the baseboards and inspect the underlying wall for any issues. If you prefer a quicker option, you can carefully cut the old carpet along the edge of the baseboards, but this may result in a less polished installation for the new carpet.
