Valleyscapes Landscape Solutions LLC

Unfortunately not as well as we had hoped. Many original plans and promised timelines were changed which caused delay in the progress of the project. Because of these delays the landscaping, including a major amount of topsoil and seed was adversely affected because of major rains washing the topsoil grass seed down our hill. Those delays caused us and your company in having to stop parts of the project for several months until the weather improved. I will say, your workers did the best they could with the limited work force available to a major project on a given day. Your workers were all very professional and friendly. The bottom line is, we were promised completions of the project in a timely manner which did not occur. Several aspects of the planned job were changed and/or delayed because of an apparent lack of enough staffing and demand for other projects involving your company

Blessing Landscapes

Blessings was amazing to work with. We are already proactively recommending them to friends and neighbors. Incredibly flexible, great team members and overall a terrific, talented partner. Our project was a big one essentially touching every inch of our yard. The final project we are beyond happy with. Perhaps the best part of the initiative for me was how happy my wife was at every step of the way. This was her dream project and they not only did a great job but captured her vision, helped improve it and make it practical. We completed a major house remodel prior to the landscaping with many good partners, she felt Blessings was the best. Another key was their ability to work within our landscaping budget which dropped from the original plan by 25% due to overages on other areas of our remodel

Checkered Flag Asphalt Paving & Sealcoating LLC

Don was great to work with. From the beginning, his pricing was very fair compared to a few other bids I received. He went above and beyond, using extra gravel on our dirty driveway to level it out properly, and also making driveway extra wide in a few key spots, without any additional charges from the initial quote. I felt like he really cared about doing the best job possible and honoring his original quote. I was incredibly impressed with how quickly and efficiently Don and team worked. Our driveway is not easily accessible, but they managed to unload equipment quickly and safely without disrupting traffic or upsetting neighbors. They worked straight for 3.5 hours. We're very happy with our new driveway. They exceeded our expectations, and I would gladly call Don again for any future work

G is a legend. He's among the best craftsmen in the city. I had the pleasure or working with him on a large project to reshape the front entry to my home. Despite a shifting scope, G was fair every step of the way. His team went above and beyond my expectations. Driveway and significant hardscape. He's a busy guy because he is one of the best

My inquiry was answered immediately. The did exactly what they said they would when they said they would. Their people were pleasant, doing more than required. They made sure not only what they cleaned was done well, but that the surrounding area was left in good condition. We were totally pleased.

It went well! George, their estimator and customer service person came out to look at the job. He said my vinyl was oxidizing and also he saw the stripes. The vinyl was put on in 2001 and it's a Legend home. Unfortunately that siding isn't made anymore because a couple times I've gotten a "small hole" in the siding and it's tricky to fix it. The color is a light grey and apparently home owners have had more trouble with that color fading than any other color. George said he wasn't satisfied with the job either and that he'd have one of his crews come out to do a redo. George did talk to the guys about the job before they came out to do it. That's the kind of follow-through, so rare today, that impresses me. Plus George is a very nice guy and knows how to treat the customer. Greg (the lead man on today's job), Dylan and Travis did a very good job today. Also they are the kind of guys you don't worry about having around your house. Very nice guys. They worked hard to make the customer satisfied. And today they did! Their willingness to do the job again until it was "right" for no extra charge makes them superior in my book! Plus they are locally owned. The business is located in Tigard

Joe's Paving Co Inc

Rudy from Joe's Paving CO. did an estimate for us and it was reasonable but his drawing I found out later he turned in was a little different than what we had talked about. That was later corrected. The second company's estimate said it was cement and not asphalt which caused me some confusion and did not know how to proceed. Had a third estimate about 2 weeks later and it was confirmed indeed it was asphalt. All the last two estimates were much higher. Called back Sean (one of the owners) and asked if they could do the job. Sean said by then he was very busy. He knew my time was limited because I had to leave town in a few days. Sean assured me he would work me in the schedule so it was done before I left. They came very early on the day they said, ground down 1 and 1/2 inches 17 ft of unstable and grooved asphalt as they had agreed. The new asphalt at he entrance matched the level of the rest of the driveway and sloped properly. They left the job sight area clean. Even a member of the committee that over sees the park said it looked very good and asked if I would recommend this company to do more driveways in the park and said yes

Ted Rudiger Excavation Inc

Ted Rudiger Excavation was referred to me by a friend who found him on the internet. All the reviews about his company and work performed was great. Everyone was very pleased with every aspect of their projects. Ted Rudiger built a shop for me. It could have not gone better. No complaints whatsoever. Everyone with his company was very easy to work with. I got everything I wanted and more. I would without hesitation use him again and refer him to friends and family without hesitation

To be honest, I only got one bid, and that was from Ted. Generally I get at least 2 or 3, but Ted's bid seemed so reasonable, he seemed so honest, and he was so helpful and informative from the get-go that it was a no-brainer. He was immediately someone I trusted, and wanted to support. From the time I first called him on a Saturday he was at my doorstep within 45 minutes. It wasn't urgent, but he made himself available. Throughout the process, Ted was very friendly and honest. He did an excellent job, and went out of his way to make sure we were happy. And we are incredibly happy. I'll hire Ted in a heartbeat the next time we are ready to do any more work that is under his umbrella. There's a reason why he got an Angie's List Award last year, and he certainly deserves to get it again. Thanks, Ted

We live on two acres. We needed some work done at our place. I talked with 7 companies and decided to go with Ted Rudiger Excavation. Ted is a salt of the earth type of guy. He works with you and for you. I was so happy we choose his company. He went over board to make us happy and did more for us than what was on the contract. I would use him again and refer him to all my friends and business partners. Thank you Ted

"Mr. Cravenho was responsive and knowledgeable. The work performed exceeded my expectations."
"I needed my old asphalt driveways torn out and replaced. They came out on time and did a good job, but with minor flaws. The boss called back two days later and said he was not happy with the results. He and his 6 man crew came out and put another layer over the entire driveway (3600 sq ft) It looks fantastic

"We had a very positive experience with System Pavers. We replaced our driveway, porch, walkways (front and back) and patio. Our sales consultant, Jeff Brown, was easy to work with. He came up with some really good ideas and did not pressure us to make our decisions right away or sign a contract before we were ready. In the backyard, we significantly altered the footprint of our patio (increased the size by over 50%) and the walkways around the yard. Jeff’s ideas really added to the eye appeal and usefulness of the hardscape. Our project manager, Ryan Mainwaring, came to our house the day before work was to start and explained how the project would proceed, and what we could expect. Once work started, he came by every day to assess progress, check that the work was within specifications and make suggestions for improvements. He was informative, and like Jeff, he came up with some great ideas to add some classy dimensions to the project. Ryan told us the project would take 3 – 4 weeks, but it was actually completed in just under three weeks. We noticed a few flaws and pointed them out to Ryan. He had them fixed to our satisfaction within two days. Prior to starting the project, we got quotes from another paving stone company. System Pavers was a bit more expensive, but I believe the quality of workmanship and professionalism made the added expense worth it. Jeff had so many good ideas and was able to show us (with his computer software) what the completed project would look like, whereas the other sales representative only followed our suggestions, offering no ideas for improvement. We looked at numerous completed jobs from the other contractor and noted that the work product appeared substandard. I have no regrets that we paid extra to have System perform the work. I highly recommend System Pavers for outdoor remodeling projects. Their staff is efficient, courteous and professional, and their work product is superb. Thank you for a job well done!

"I happened to be standing in my garage during an intense downpour,
when I noticed a rain drain backing up and running down the driveway.
Clearly I had a clog. I attempted to snake it with my 25 ft, but
reached nothing. I tried again with 50 ft., but couldn't get past 35 ft.
I rented a 100ft snake from Home Depot, but couldn't get much farther.
I tried from another drain and did an obstruction, but the clog didn't
clear.

I called one of those Rooter places. There was a hefty fee to scope the
problem, which would be applied to the cost of repair, should I go with them to
do it. They came out, scoped it, told me my rain drains were going under
the house and were connected with a foundation drain system. He saw
aggregate in the pipe and concluded that there was a crushed pipe that was
filling from above with drainage stone. He claimed to have cleared it
once, but that it quickly refilled.

We discussed possible remedies, and they later provided me a quotes for two
approaches. For $3000 we abandon one drain so as to avoid cutting and
repairing concrete. For $5000 we do it the right way.

I called Black Rock for another estimate. Corry came out on a Saturday on
a fourth of July weekend to give us a quote. First thing I noticed was
that Corry?s equipment was superior. The picture was clearer. He
recorded everything on a usb drive. He also used a sounding device that
told him where the end of his camera was: how deep and the direction it was
pointing. We went around to all the drains and had things mapped out
pretty quickly. He too found the aggregate blockage.

I told him about the diagnosis that I had from the other folks. He looked
at me and said, he been working pipes underground since he was 18 and he had
never encountered a crushed pipe. "I suppose it's possible, but
highly unlikely." Also, his sounder said the camera wasn't
underneath the house, He had a water jet auger he said that would get
through anything short of a tree root. He tried it, but didn't get
through. He scoped again and it was the exact same image.
"Looks like you got concrete in there."

He dug a hole about three ft down, just like the Rooter guy did, and hit
cement, just like the Rooter guy. But the cement was clearly not part of
the foundation, but up against it. With a hammer and chisel he busted it
out.. It was clear where the blockage had to be, so I told to cut the pipe.
Let's see what we had.

Sure enough there was a concrete plug. I looked like a construction
worker dumped unused concrete in this corner of my home. The down pipe
wasn't connected yet, but the circumference pipe must have been. Concrete
sloped into the open 90. You could see how someone must have attempted to
scoop it out with their hand, which resulted in a near complete blockage of the
pipe.

Corry ran out to get a few part that he needed, replaced the pipe, cleaned up.
His bill was only a couple hundred more than what I paid Rooter.
This guy knows his underground pipe. I would never call anyone
else.

He is very experienced, has an excellent work ethic, keeps his job site neat,
thinks systematically, get's it done and he's very honest.

"Alamo was very honest about the difficulty posed by this job, due to the steepness of driveway. They did an outstanding job, and they did everything I asked them to do, including paving part of my walkway and placing a curb on one side of the driveway. They had to charge me extra for additional, under-estimated square footage not noted in the original estimate. I feel that the incremental price was very much in line and was quite competitive. They were punctual and efficient.

"I originally called F/X repairs several months before we actually met but because the closing of the property kept getting delayed in escrow, I kept having to delay getting bids to repair the place for rental. I asked Bob at that time to call me back in two weeks which he did. He was friendly, we got delayed again, he called again and each time he called back exactly when he said he would. Finally, in late November we closed on the property and he came by the next week to give me a bid. He checked out all the things I wanted done, wrote down the repairs needed, looked at what needed painting and wrote everything down. I liked him a lot and was thinking I was likely to use him for the whole project if the bid was in my ballpark between $3500-5000. He told me he'd get me the proposal and bid on Friday (it was Wednesday) and we parted very friendly. Then nothing. Nothing. No call. No email. I waited 10 days, got other bids and went another direction. I was a bid dumbfounded because he had been so friendly. Curiosity finally got the better of me and I gave him a call just to find out what happened. I actually wondered if something bad might have happened. Anyway, he was apologetic, said he had no excuse, and just didn't get it done. Oh well, no harm no foul. I guess I'm glad I didn't hire him and find out later he (they) just wouldn't show up.

Before repaving an asphalt driveway, make sure you hire a paving contractor who uses modern techniques and consider these other blacktop driveway options.
If you live in a cold region that requires snow removal, you may want to consider installing a hydronic radiant snowmelt system under your home's driveway.
