"The inspection was scheduled promptly, the inspector did a careful and thorough job. He provided a somewhat dire assessment on the ant issues (I knew that we had a problem), provided a full suite of things which the company could tend to to extend the life of the interior wood structure and exclude pests for the longer term. Their use of all natural chemical control was a big plus. We signed a contract and the technician came a few days later. Unfortunately, the birds were "in" on that cool and rainy day so we decided to leave them to his second visit to complete the treatments/exclusion. The technician was polite, tidy, and willing to answer questions. On the second treatment day, the birds were out and the exclusion process was completed. They guarantee the work done for a year with the promise of return to address any issues. It is too early to assess the longer term run at this point but so far, so good."

"When we bought our new house the prior owners had monthly pest control that we just kept going.  Not good, the ants were more comfortable in the house than we were.  After 4 months we were fed up of having ants everywhere with no area safe place to hide from them.  I even moved my toothpaste and mouthwash to she shower after replacing them due to ants.   When I woke up to find ants still all over our bathroom I was done.   We interviewed many companies and liked Bug Zapper.   Their customer service was excellent.  They provided us with an informative e-mail on what to expect for our first visit and how to prep the area.  They inspected the whole house with us going over the problem areas and how they would address it.  They provided both a written and e-mailed detailed copy of what chemicals were used and to what areas.   We love them!   Since they return  every 2 months, the price only came out to be 2 dollars more than our prior service.   We have been using them for at least 6 months now.   We have not had an ant return!   I feel for the prior owners that didn't have the pleasure of having Bug Zapper.  It has been wonderful!!!

"We found evidence of termite infestation. They responded quickly and inspected property the following day. Price was reasonable and employee was knowledgeable. He explained scope of work and options thoroughly. We added pest control as additional price was very reasonable. Work was performed the following day and we are satisfied with service."

Pest Control questions, answered by experts

Sort of. Hornets are a subsection of wasps with some unique characteristics (along with yellowjackets and similar types of insects). Hornets are generally rare in the United States, with European and Asian hornets the two notable examples.

Hornets tend to be significantly larger than wasps, often larger than one inch. They are also typically white or brown striped instead of yellow like many wasps. They tend to be one of the more aggressive types of wasps, which when combined with their size makes them a priority for homeowners.

Some plants that are toxic to animals or insects are also toxic to people. Daffodils, for example, are considered poisonous to humans (although they are rarely fatal). Most of the other plants listed above, however, are safe (and delicious!) for humans to eat, including basil, rosemary, and lemongrass.

Stay calm and avoid acting like a threat. Avoid swatting at the wasps or yelling, which will agitate wasps and make them more likely to attack. Instead, move away at a slow, steady pace in one direction, getting as much distance between you and the wasps as possible.

Wasps swarm to protect their nest, so moving far away indicates you are not a threat and they should subside. Do not try to handle a wasp nest filled with agitated wasps. Wait until they call down before you take action, or trust in a professional.

Flea eggs can’t take heat, so use that information to your advantage. Take any affected clothes and linens and wash them on a hot setting (140℉ or higher) to kill them off. You can also rid carpets and furniture using heat. After vacuuming all surfaces thoroughly, use a steam mop or cleaner to get rid of the remaining flea eggs and residue.

Flea eggs also can’t handle extreme cold. You could seal affected linens and store them in a freezer.

Whether rain affects a professional mosquito treatment depends on the treatment type, the quantity and intensity of rain involved, and how soon after the treatment it rains. Larvicides, for example, are often applied to water sources where mosquitoes lay their eggs, so it won’t matter if it rains. Some barrier sprays need sufficient time before the next rainfall to penetrate the surfaces properly and do their work.
