Geist Appraisal SErvices is a locally owned and operated real estate appraisal company that has been in business for over 20 years. Our area of emphasis is single family homes, condos, townhouses and 2-4 unit income properties located in the tri-county area of Portland Oregon. We have appraised newly built homes, existing structures, homes with additions being added, or remodeling projects taking place. But in all cases, the purpose of the appraisal is to determine the market value of the property. Since lenders typically determine their own appraisers I would be the most help for estates, divorces, determining a market value before putting a home on the market for sale. In divorces and estates, we may end up providing a current value and a 2nd value that is from the past.

"Ed came on Thursday the 26th, was professional, gave me a handwritten receipt for the cash he wanted to do the job. He said he would have the report to me on Monday-Tuesday of the following week (30th or the 1st). I called on Wednesday the 2nd, he said he would have it by the afternoon. I reminded him I needed it on the 9th for an appointment with the attorney. He said no problem. He did not call or send it. I have called 5 times and he either promises in one hour or by end of day. It is now the 9th and I feel he has ghosted me. It is the 9th and he won't respond to phone, text or email and today is the appointment with attorney. He should att have the courtesy to tell me. Angie, I would think twice about referring him if this is the service he provides. I am out $300 unless I can find him and now will have to meet with attorney another time. Not a good way to do business."

Poor communication --- Cascade Sotheby's agent Yvonne Blewett missed important equipment lease disclosure at outset, surprised Buyer and us (Seller) week of closing. Threatened us about breach of contract (resulting from her failure), and forced us to pay the lease out initially in order to close the sale. Very stressful and time-consuming, combined with frantic and obtuse emails and texts. After the sale she decided not to cover the cost of her oversight. Cascade Sotheby's manager met with us, but simply passed along Yvonne's message that she was expecting us to pay for her mistake. Cascade Sotheby's owner, Deb Tebbs waved us off saying we should take it up with Yvonne. As Clients, we were surprised that CSIR would allow confrontational and unprofessional actions and not hold themselves and their agent accountable. We sold our house --- but only owing to last minute pay-off we had to make. Will not use Cascade Sotheby's again. Run the other way if you are considering Yvonne Blewett --- look elsewhere and pay close attention to agent's demeanor and communication style and capabilities."
