"The crew were on time, their work was very organized and thorough. They also trimmed other trees that needed an arborist's expertise. Each crew member did their job efficiently. We had made arrangements for a neighbor to take the wood, so the crew chipped the trimmed branches. They did a good cleanup job. We were very pleased with their work."

"I called them and was able to set up something right away.  He & his team have always been here and gone while I take my son to school.  The front and back yard both look great and I find for all the work they do and how quickly they do it, $40 is a reasonable rate.  We are very happy with their services and also found that his wife does housecleaning, so we've gotten her help on that for occasional times.

"James of JBC was very helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. He replaced the whole back side of our fence. He suggested steel poles instead of the wood posts to avoid the rotting process in the future. My husband and I are very pleased and happy with our final product. I would recommend JBC to anyone needing fence work done."

"The Crew did a phenomenal job taking down a complete tree and then trimming another tree for me. They were very efficient and proffessional on not damaging any of the fences that were near the trees. I will definitely hire them back in the future and recommend their services to anybody!!"

"I hired Jose to remove "volunteer" bushes growing in my juniper along my embankment slope. I originally met with him to remove a tall leaning pine tree. He spoke openly and honestly about the trees on my property and professionally advised NOT to remove the leaning tall pine tree. He backed up his advice with his very logical and sensible scientific horticultural research and experience. He explained that, even though he is losing the money he could make if he just removed the tree, he honesty did not believe there was a need to do so. He noted that the tree is healthy and is part of a root system that has joined other trees in my yard to keep the embankments from sliding downhill. He also pointed out that the upper part that is leaning is only doing so to reach the sunlight, is very strong and would not, in all probability fall during a winter storm. JV has such excellent knowledge that I trusted his wisdom and experience. Instead of tree removal he removed unwanted bushes."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Yes, cutting a tree's roots can cause it to fall, particularly if major support roots are severed. In extreme cases, trimming roots can affect the tree's structure and stability. Many crucial roots are located just below the soil's surface. If you make severe cuts to roots more than 2 inches in diameter, you risk impacting the tree's water flow and its ability to withstand severe winds or storms. Even cutting roots less than half an inch in diameter under or outside the tree's canopy can cut off its water supply, causing it to decline, die, and eventually topple.

Some trees, such as silver maples, birches, sycamores, and scotch pines, shed their bark naturally. If your tree is not one that does this, it might have fallen prey to pests, fungi, or diseases. It could also simply be suffering from an extreme weather change, such as a snowstorm or heat wave. If you’re still stumped, consulting with a pro can help you diagnose your tree’s specific problem.

Absolutely. These steps are significantly easier, too, especially when it comes to preserving the root ball and moving the palm tree. However, you will want to make sure the tree has plenty of fertilizer to establish itself and start growing. Supports may also be more important, as it can take extra time for a potted palm to spread out its roots. If you are transferring a palm to another pot, you’ll want to move up a size or two to a larger pot. Make sure the pot has excellent drainage to keep the palm from getting waterlogged.

If tree branches cross well into your property line, in many cases, these branches become part of your property, and you can trim them up until your neighbor’s property line. However, this issue will vary based on local ordinances, so you should do your research before making any decisions. Better yet, speak with your neighbor about how to handle any tree issues.

If you don’t mind the branches, you can leave them be, but if they’re becoming a hazard, it’s definitely worth having a conversation.

Yes, you can prune a palm tree with a chainsaw, but a chainsaw is overkill for a job like this. You risk damaging the tree if you make a bad cut. More commonly, you’ll need pruning shears or a serrated knife to trim a palm tree, or you can use a specialized pruning saw instead of a chainsaw.
