It went well. The dying tree was cut down, removed and chipped. Other trees were pruned. They cleaned up afterwards. Nice people to work with. I've been having my trees and shrubs taken care of by Damon and I wouldn't to any other arborist. He has many degrees in tree care from OSU. Mariano did an amazing job pruning the Japanese maple.

I am a return customer and was once again really pleased with the work done. Damon and the crew were professional and courteous; the job was well done and the job site was left impeccable after completion. I was quoted a maximum amount (up to $680 for the job) and ended up being billed much less, which was an added pleasant surprise.
I wouldn't use anyone else in the future
thanks again and see you in 2 years! :)

Treecology showed up on time and reviewed the work that needed to be accomplished. The workers were friendly and courteous and discussed amongst themselves which workers would do what work and anticipated how to fill "empty time" so a worker would not be standing idle. (For example: not have a worker just stand there looking up at the tree when the limbs were being dropped. Instead, that person would go out and run the chipper).
We did experience some downtime as the first chipper quit working and needing troubleshooting. A second chipper was brought to our house so the work would continue. My wife and I helped bring limbs and branches to the guys that were running the chipper to ensure that everyone could finish the job as quickly as possible (my wife even provided homemade cookies during the lunch break which was a small token of our appreciation to everyone). These guys work hard and certainly anything that we could do help, we were glad to do.
At the end of the day, when discussing the final billing hours, I expressed that I did not think that having everyone stand around troubleshooting the chipper should be part of the bill and Treecology agreed (which I very much appreciated). I did find that if an issue arose, Damon and I were able to discuss it, and determine a mutually agreed upon course of action. I also think that a sign of an excellent company is determined from any problems that arise and how those problems are addressed. If I needed another tree to be removed, I would not hesitate to call Treecology. They did a great job removing the tree (which was complicated) and was able to do so in the time their estimate stated it would take. If you do have a tough job, definitely call Treecology.

General comments: Damon arrived promptly at the scheduled time for the estimate discussion. He listened to my concerns about the tree and made helpful suggestions. I picked Treecology to do the job over 3 other tree trimmers, although his estimate wasn't the lowest, because he recommended a less radical treatment of a problematic large branch than the others. The others recommended cutting it off; Damon recommended pruning to lighten the load on the branch, followed by watchful waiting.
2 days before the appointed day I received a postcard from Treecology reminding of the appointment, urging that I remove all items from the work area that might be damaged or get in the way, and to notify neighbors.
Damon arrived precisely at 8am on the appointed day, followed within minutes by his crew and the truck and chipper. He and all crew members were wearing Treecology logo T-shirts. He introduced me to the leader and other members of the crew and we went over the scope of the work, then he left. As work progressed one or another of the crew members would check with me about anything requiring a major judgement call. Damon returned about 3 hours later just as the crew finished up cleaning up. We reviewed the work to assure it was done to my satisfaction, then I signed off on the job and gave him a check for the balance due. (I had paid a 20% deposit on initial signing of the contract.)
I give a B on Price simply because the Treecology estimate for the job was not the lowest.
Specifics: On the Norway maple the crew selectively trimmed in the upper canopy to allow some light to get through to the lower canopy, as well as dappled sunlight to the deck below. They cut off or cut back on branches reaching near the house and over the house rain gutters, trimmed branches back from the nearby garage and cleaned out dead wood from the understory. Where branches of the maple had grown into the two laurels the crew trimmed all 3 back to put some daylight between them.
One of the laurels, in the back corner of the yard, had several intertwining heavy branches, as well as branches overhanging a nearby wisteria arbor in my yard as well as the yards behind and to the side of my property. The crew took out the intertwining branches, trimmed bace to leave about 3 feet clearance from the arbor, and cut back branches reaching over the neighboring yards. On the other laurel, toward the front corner of the backyard and near both my house and the neighbors, the crew thinned back branches reaching out over my roof and other branches reaching near the neighbor's house.
On the red maple pruning was done on the problematic branch so neatly that it was hardly noticeable.

This was a wonderful experience.
I discovered that a house I was selling had major issues with the sewer line running from house to road. The yard was heavily wooded with multiple beautiful old trees. A city permit was required for the major undertaking to replace the pipe, and I couldn't get the permit without a plan to do the work without damaging the trees.
I had a cash buyer and wanted to move fast on the repair. These guys were fast! They developed a plan that passed muster, worked with the city on one occasion to expedite the permit, and did the cleanup fast. They were amazing!
This wasn't a simple project and we were on a tight timeline. I'd work with them again in a heartbeat.

Treecology/Mr. Schrosk completed all the work to our full satisfaction. He and his crew were punctual, easy to work with, very focused on doing the work properly, and quite efficient in completing the work. At all times they were careful not to damage any part of our property or that of our neighbors, and the cleanup was thorough. Once work began, Mr Schrosk decided to utilize a crane for removal of the largest (and least accessible) tree; this had been discussed as a possibility. He arranged for use of the crane quickly and this part of the work was also completed as originally scheduled. The completed pruning was as we expected, visually and otherwise. We are very satisfied with the work done, the way in which it was done and the all-around professionalism of Mr. Schrosk and his crew.

Treecology was recommened to me. Damon came to my house and gave me an estimate. They were more expensive than some other estimates, but they knew what they were talking about. Damon explained everything that needed to be done, and more importantly, WHY. It was very evident that he understands trees. I have a beautiful tree in my yard and I didn't want someone who didn't know exactly what they were doing to work on it. They came and in one day had everything trimmed. They also brought a wood chipper so there was no clean up required. I would absolutely recommend them. They are worth it!

I have used Treecology for a few years now to do pruning and tree maintenance. I have been very happy with their service. They are very professional and really know their business. This time I had them do some restoration work with which I am very pleased. They were at my property for a day with a crew of 3 or 4.

My yard was a disaster after the December storm and I lost a significant amount of branches from my fir and magnolia trees. I had an estimate for all the work, as well as what options I had for one of the fir trees which suffered major damage. They gave me different options along with costs for the one tree. I decided to keep the tree as this was a little bit lower in cost, and it may come around in a few years. I had to schedule quite a few weeks out since they were so busy, and mine was not an emergency. They did an excellent job getting my yard to look a little more normal when they were done.

The whole process went quite well! I contacted Treecology since I had used their services before and was quite happy with their work. Damon arrived right when he said he would and asked what I had in mind for the job. I told him my goals and expectations and he described how he could accomplish them. We then set a date for the work to be performed. Confident that my wishes would be respected, I didn't feel the need to be onsite and was able to work a full 8 hours on the day of the pruning. I arrived home that evening to a trimmer, healthier, more neighborly tree, one that will continue to provide much-needed summer shade without taking a toll on my house. The crew cleaned up after themselves and left my yard looking better than when they started. All in all, it was a very positive experience!

There was a stump in the front of the house in a planter in my retaining wall. Amazingly they got the grinder up there and got the stump. I was very happy about that. Then they removed a small juniper tree that was against the foundation of the house. That went wall also. They also did a very good job trimming the large trees in the back yard. However, when they removed the large branches from the back yard they dragged the full branches along the side of my house leaving damage to my siding. One part of the siding was torn off. When I complained, Damon was nice and offered to repair the damage to the bit of siding that was torn off. He offered to nail in with finishing nails and put some paint on there. When he came to nail it he did not use finishing nails, he used regular nails with big heads. He also did not paint the area as he said. I told him that I was not happy with the way that he "fixed" the problem. He also denied ever telling me that he would use any paint to cover the now exposed wood siding. I told Damon, that his work was unacceptable and I wanted to give him another chance to get it right. He proceeded to get very emotional and unprofessional on the phone with me while giving me excuses about how busy he is. At that point I also got a little emotion and felt offended. He finally came back and replaced the nails with finishing nails and destroyed the piece of siding in the process. There is still no paint. Now that corner of my house looks very bad, plus the scrapes and scratches down the length of the south side of my house.

They did a great job and I would definitely hire them again. They even cut some of the deadwood limbs for me as firewood.

I had several tree services, including Treecology, evaluate the trees on my property for overall health and pruning. Damon at Treecology is very personable and spoke calmly but passionately about trees, their value, and his approach to maintenance. Their prices are in the middle of the group I called. I setup an appointment for him to evaluate and estimate the service. He came on time for that appointment and spent lots of time discussing our trees. At the same time, my neighbors had him evaluate their trees too. When it came time to setup the appointment for the actual pruning, that took longer than I hoped to setup. Call backs weren't right away. But once we settled on a date, he and his crew showed up and did the work faster than they anticipated, so they offered to do more pruning than we agreed just so I got my money's worth, and I did.
Response from TREECOLOGY INC
"THANK YOU FOR THE POSITIVE COMMENTS. I'M SORRY YOU FELT THAT I WASN'T CONTACTING YOU IN A TIMELY MANNER. THE DELAYS IN SCHEDULING WERE MAINLY DUE TO THE FACT THAT WE WERE TRYING TO COORDINATE WITH THE NEIGHBORS AND I WASN'T NECESSARILY GETTING FAST CALLBACKS FROM THEM. I DO HAVE AN ANSWERING SERVICE NOW AND HAVE ALSO INCREASED OFFICE HOURS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR FEEDBACK."

When I called, I talked to Damon directly. He was able to come out next-day for a free estimate. He apparently knew what he was talking about and had the lowest estimate, so I hired him for the job. He even did the work on Friday, even though they usually don't work on Friday's, just so I could be present. I hired them only to down the tree. I would do all the clean-up. They were here less than two hours, and nothing was damaged.

Damon is a certified arborist who is extremely knowledgeable about trees. He also had wonderful suggestions about all different facets of my landscaping. Damon & his crew obviously love trees/plants & it shows! They were very enthusiastic about what they were doing & worked diligently. Everything looks beautiful!
