Small jobs welcome

"We hired Eric's to build a large retaining wall; approximately 100 feet long and 6 feet tall. They completed the work promptly, everyone I spoke to was professional and punctual, and the quality of the work is excellent. Fair price and great workmanship; recommend."

Customers say: Quality work

"Ben did amazing work installing our concrete patio, firepit, and retaining wall. Ben and his team were always timely and communicated with us every step of the way. He was always willing to go the extra mile (like taking our green bin to the curb!), And cleaned up after himself beautifully. Keeping his customers happy is important to Ben and it shows. I highly recommend Rockman Concrete services for any concrete project one might have!"

"My wife and I hired Forest Landscape to remove our old rotted pressure treated retaining wall by our Koi pond and replace with natural black basalt rock. They also removed our wood raised garden walls and replaced with paver stone with a top cap. They also removed our badly installed basalt rock pathway that was loose and lifting up. The rock pathway was installed only three years ago by Cornerstone Hardscapes. Forest Landscapes installed a stamped concrete pathway where the basalt rock pathway was removed Jose and Rigo Castaneda were very professional to work with and there crew were real craftsman with attention to detail. They showed up on time and worked even on Saturday to finish project on time. We will hire them again for any future projects."

"We hired them to lay a concrete pad next to our garage. They were very easy to work with and did an excellent job! They listened to our needs, were on time, and checked in a few days after the project was completed. I highly recommend."

Retaining Wall Installers questions, answered by experts

The lifespan of a retaining wall varies based on its material, installation quality, maintenance, and local climate, with an average range of 20 to 100 years. Retaining walls made from durable materials like concrete, stone, and brick generally last a minimum of 50 years. Concrete walls typically last between 50 and 100 years, while brick can last for over a century in ideal conditions. Timber retaining walls can last from 20 to 40 years, depending on the wood quality, and pressure-treated wood walls average around 30 years. It is important to note that a retaining wall can fail prematurely if it was poorly constructed, for example, with inefficient footings or without necessary rebar reinforcements.

They prevent soil erosion, add flat space, and enhance property aesthetics.

Most railroad tie retaining walls have a life span of 20 to 30 years, though you may need to replace your wall sooner if it’s repeatedly exposed to heavy rain, runoff, and excess moisture. Railroad ties are typically treated with creosote, which makes them much more durable than untreated wood. Though they last longer, they don’t last forever. For the most longevity, make sure your retaining wall has a sturdy base and steel reinforcements. You should also install drainage to direct water away from the wall.

Installation typically takes 1-2 weeks, depending on the wall’s size and site conditions.

With foundation walls, the slab on grade and force at the top of the wall is resisted by flooring. With retaining walls, the force at the top of the wall is not resisted.
