Small jobs welcome

"We hired Eric's to build a large retaining wall; approximately 100 feet long and 6 feet tall. They completed the work promptly, everyone I spoke to was professional and punctual, and the quality of the work is excellent. Fair price and great workmanship; recommend."

Customers say: Quality work

"Ben immediately grasped what I was looking for in the retaining wall and carried it out in a very timely fashion. He and his crew worked hard and I enjoyed interacting with them. The total costs were lower than the other quote I got, even with my requesting some additional work."

"My wife and I hired Forest Landscape to remove our old rotted pressure treated retaining wall by our Koi pond and replace with natural black basalt rock. They also removed our wood raised garden walls and replaced with paver stone with a top cap. They also removed our badly installed basalt rock pathway that was loose and lifting up. The rock pathway was installed only three years ago by Cornerstone Hardscapes. Forest Landscapes installed a stamped concrete pathway where the basalt rock pathway was removed Jose and Rigo Castaneda were very professional to work with and there crew were real craftsman with attention to detail. They showed up on time and worked even on Saturday to finish project on time. We will hire them again for any future projects."

"I went through a few bids and decided to go with TOA construction and glad I did. Even though it wasn't the cheapest bid but TOA stood out for me because of how fast and how well he communicated. He kept in tough throughout the bid process and he was also the fastest at giving the quote on the bid. Through out the whole installation process he texted me to let me know when he will be here work, when he leaves and when he will comeback the next time. Job was done well and also cleaned up everything afterwards. Highly recommended and would work with him again on future projects."

"George and his crew work very hard and do an excellent job. We made changes mid-project and they accommodated us without complaint. The crew showed up early and stayed late. George is a great communicator and his crew is respectful. We got a two car driveway install done in two days. I highly recommend them."

Retaining Wall Installers questions, answered by experts

They prevent soil erosion, add flat space, and enhance property aesthetics.

Most railroad tie retaining walls have a life span of 20 to 30 years, though you may need to replace your wall sooner if it’s repeatedly exposed to heavy rain, runoff, and excess moisture. Railroad ties are typically treated with creosote, which makes them much more durable than untreated wood. Though they last longer, they don’t last forever. For the most longevity, make sure your retaining wall has a sturdy base and steel reinforcements. You should also install drainage to direct water away from the wall.

Railroad ties can be good for retaining walls, but it depends on the area. They have a desirable rustic look and are durable. The problem is they’re treated with creosote, a preservative the EPA says poses a risk to humans and wildlife. Over time, the preservative seeps out of the wood and into the ground. Many areas have banned the use of creosote-treated wood on residential properties. If your area does allow it, never use railroad ties near an edible garden or drinking water source. Instead, use wood that’s treated with an EPA-approved preservative or a wood-alternative composite material.

To maintain the integrity of your landscape, a retaining wall must be installed if the slope of the angle exceeds 35 degrees. The lean of the wall must be 1 inch per 12 inches in height to disperse the weight of the soil uniformly and guarantee the correct drainage of the soil.

Through proper drainage solutions and compacting the foundation soil.
