"Elias Contruction provided a detailed estimate after inspecting the roof and making some qualified recommendations. The project required a few change orders that were not clarified in writing. I would recommend hiring Elias if you get changes in writing. They cleaned up pretty well although they missed a few things due to finishing in the dark. Overall satisfied with the job and cost was 60% of other bids due to sheathing adjustment."

You can sometimes add water to your spray gun, depending on the design of your sprayer and the type of paint, paint finish, or sealant. In many cases, mixing in around 10% percent of water to the paint makes for an easier application process and further evens out the mist. The best time to paint gutters is when the weather forecast predicts clear skies and low humidity. High humidity will likely prolong dry time, and rainy or snowy conditions may ruin your hard work before it can cure. If you have no other option than to work in inclement weather, consider choosing paint with a faster dry time, like acrylic or latex, rather than one that takes a while, like oil paint.

Bubbles can appear during painting for several reasons, but poor adhesion or trapped moisture are the most common. Painting over dirty, wet, or improperly prepared surfaces leads to air or moisture getting stuck under the paint layer. Using the wrong tools, applying paint too thickly, or working in extreme temperatures and humidity can also cause bubbling. In some cases, incompatible layers of old and new paint types, like latex over oil-based, create tension, leading to blisters and bubbles.

You may or may not be able to paint over your old exterior paint. If the existing paint is in good shape, then you can paint a new layer on top. But if your paint is flaky, you'll need to scrape off the old paint before adding any new layers. Also, it’s best to use primer first to help your paint stick properly.

If you’re repainting with the same sheen, it’s possible to apply satin paint over satin. However, if you’re reducing the glossiness and using a flatter paint, you should sand first to take off some of the sheen. Sanding will also help the next coat of paint stick to the wall better, so it’s a good idea, even if you’re not changing the sheen.
