We hired the Summit Painting team after observing them paint the exterior of a house around the corner from us. The house looked fantastic and we appreciated how hard the team worked. Our experience proved that the Summit Painting team is outstanding. We hired them to complete an exterior paint job that included the repair of some of the siding. They worked incredibly hard and we found them to be diligent and meticulous in their work. Moreover, they were kind and considerate while working at our home. We are extremely pleased with the result and will definitely phone Mauricio again in the future.

We only needed some parts of the exterior house caulked and then painted over caulking. They didn't do the painting part because the job took longer than they thought and they probably had other jobs scheduled. The worse part is the quality. The caulking in many places failed a year later in the summer, and I caulked the areas I could reach again myself. Today, two years later, pretty much all areas they caulked are failing, and since some areas are too high for me to reach, I need to hire a professional again to do the job. I'm attaching a picture showing the condition of some areas.

* It went well. We have a 10 year-old 3000sf 2-story house. Summit bid $4050 plus trim repair labor/materials; two other companies each bid over $6000 plus trim repair labor/materials. Summit has done a lot of homes in our neighborhood, and we couldn't figure out why the other bids were more expensive. * The Summit brochure is out of date, showing a different work crew and license/bond/liability information. Daniel gave me the current numbers. Not sure about current workers comp. He needs a new brochure. * When you sign the contract, be sure to get/make a copy. * We added extensive concrete pressure-wash for $450. Concrete looks new. * The crew was able to start a few days early, and so end early on our scheduled week, which was great. The total number of work days was five: pressure washing, trim repair, caulking/priming, painting body side/back/side, painting body front and all trim. They cleaned up every day. Our yard is spotless. * The crew was friendly and polite. Mauricio is the supervisor, and Sergio is the trim repair and painting lead man. The three of us had one miscommunication over shutter removal rather than repainting, but that was resolved nicely, thanks. * Total cost of the trim repair was 2 men for 6.5 hours at $50/hour/man. They worked steadily, and trim looks solid. Very glad we took care of that. Cost of trim boards was $150. * On the caulking/priming day, one of the crew asked to use my bathroom, which surprised me, but could I really say "no"? On the last painting day, I was asked again, and let them use "the restroom". * This was our first house painting experience; be aware you will have to leave the front and back doors open for a few hours while the door trim dries. Same with the garage door. So if you have kids or pets, plan ahead. * The "two coats" on the body will happen on one spray pass around the house. Not sure if that's quite right, but your windows will get taped up just once, for a few hours. The "two coats" on the trim will happen on two separate brush/roll passes around the house. Coverage is very good; paint was Sherwin-Williams Resilience.

They showed up on time for everything, went about their work rapidly and professionally, answered any questions I had, etc.  I also had the name and phone number of a supervisory contact at all times, and he showed up at my house at least once a day.  They did everything thing they said they would at a significantly lower price than other estimates we had.  Very satisfied with the results.

The cost of the service I noted is a guess. I cannot find my invoice, but I think it was around $800. Summit Painting is great. The most recent job they did for me was to paint all of my window trim and some new siding after I had new windows installed. I have used them multiple times and referred them to many friends. Their pricing is competitive with other painting companies, but I think Summit always goes the extra mile. I have had them paint my previous house inside and out. When they painted the exterior, they pressure washed the exterior before painting, removed all old caulk and recaulked. I even had some rotten wood around a window that was brought to my attention and then replaced for me before painting. They do good work and don't leave messes behind. They have a project manager that will check in on the project. I would recommend these folks hands down.

Daniel of Summit responded quickly to my call to come to our home and offer a bid. We had a short and very specific window for the work to begin and be completed, as we were moving back to Portland from out of state and would be in and out of town arranging the renovations and the move.
Daniel worked with us to get us on the schedule and arrange timing to meet our needs. He came to the home again with Mauricio (his business partner and project manager) to clearly review all of our expectations and needs and to confirm their timeline for work and completion of the project. Mauricio was very specific and ultimately kept his schedule and his word on all aspects of the job. Their pricing was in line with other bids we received and the quality of all of the work they completed was Outstanding/Professional/of the Highest Quality.
Mauricio supervised his team well, began many of the work days with them (showing them exactly what was to be done and how), the workers/painters/artists were Excellent, Diligent, Trustworthy, Self-motivated and arrived early (often by 7am) each day and worked until well after 5pm most days. They cleaned up at the end of each day and respected the house and our newly refinished floors.
It was a pleasure working with Mauricio and his Team. They did an Outstanding Job, and we have more work for them as other parts of the home renovations are being completed and ready for painting.
This was one of the best customer service experiences of some rather extensive renovations of our home. Daniel, Mauricio and his Team set the bar high for other contractors; they really care about their work, have Great work ethic and keep to their timelines and to their word.
We really "scored" when we found Summit Painting.

My elderly mother purchased a one bedroom condo and because of delays with closing she only got access to it several weeks before she was due to move in.  I wanted to have it repainted, but didn't think anyone would be able to schedule it on short notice even though it was a relatively small job.  I would have done it myself, but she had very high vaulted ceilings and it was just beyond what I'd want to take on.  So I was resigned to having her move in - then a few months later have painters come in and have to repack a lot of things, not to mention the inconvenience of having to relocate her and her two cats during the painting.  I called several painters with excellent reviews from Angie's List.  I knew of Summit and Daniel because I met a previous customer who recommended him highly.  The other two painters I contacted both showed up promptly to do estimates and I felt they would have been fine, but could not schedule before October.  Daniel from Summit came to do our estimate and was very professional and pleasant.  He understood that it would be a win-win to just paint it quickly while it was still unoccupied- much less work for them in not having to move furniture.  He gave me a very reasonable offer - it happened to be the lowest, and I agreed immediately.  He couldn't promise the schedule, but I knew he'd try.
He was successful in scheduling the painting to be done the week before she moved in.  It took them two days - they arrived exactly when they said they would and the crew boss even helped me pick between a few choices for accent walls.  When I came back the evening it was finished the apartment was spotless except for the perfectly painted walls.  It looks amazing and was such a load off my mind to have that done before she moved in.  The quality was outstanding too, and I appreciated that he recommended Miller Paint (local favorite brand) and the AccuPure line which is a bit better on emissions and the environment.  I would definitely use Summit again or recommend them.  Great price and customer service.  I wouldn't promise that they could always make schedule accommodations, but I bet Daniel would always do his best to meet the customer's needs.  I still would have used them even if I had to wait a few months.

Summit Painting's bid on the paint job was very reasonable. They were on site for a total of three days spread out over a couple weeks. They were on site one day doing prep work. Then came back a couple weeks later and in two days finished the entire house, a one story ranch, 1700 sqft. They were quick, polite, clean, and very efficient. We LOVE the paint job. Their work is top notch and we will definitely use them again in the future.

Summit Painting, owned by Danny Bailo is fabulous!  We have worked with Danny Bailo for many years.  He and his company are professional, timely, reliable, high quality, and provide great customer service.  Summit repainted our original peeling and worn gutters, they still look great!  They repainted the exterior of our house working patiently with us as we worked with our HOA.  They were neat, paint was even - no spills, splatter, missed spots, etc.  Left the job site, clean and picked up.  Danny has an aesthetic ability, thus was able to help us choose paint color, as well.  We still receive compliments on our house color and paint job!  Summit also, among other jobs, most recently painted our interior bathrooms.  Mauricio was wonderful  to work with because it was very important to me to have neat, clean lines along the ceilings, counters, and baseboards with no color bleed over.  They were amazing!! Their paint job looks like we have brand new bathrooms!  Next, we are planning on having Summit place our Christmas lights and clean the gutters at the same time.  Thank you Danny and Summit!!!

The owner responded rapidly to my request for an estimate and was very professional in his approach to that as well as the actual contract signing, etc.  Since this was in September, a VERY busy time for painters in our area, we had to go on a list.  There were a couple of weather related delays as well, so it didn't happen as rapidly as we would have liked but definitely within a reasonable time frame.  Once started, the work was done very rapidly and as neatly and quietly as possible for this kind of work.  The crews were on time and worked steadily and were very polite and easy to deal with.  The over-all foreman was easily available by phone.  The work performed looks great and we would use them again.  All in all, a very positive experience compared to others we've had.

Summit provided two services, the first was to paint two sections of new cedar siding that had been replaced along with trim on the front of the house.  The second was refinishing of a wood deck.  The painting went well as the siding was pre-primed as well as the brickmold window trim.  Very little prep was required.  The crew showed up and within 5 hours the work was completed.  There were several areas that need to be touched up and some over spray removed from several windows but it was minor.  This phase of the work went well, however the next phase of the deck refinishing didn't go as well, at first.
A different crew came out to pressure wash and clean/brighten the deck (mahogany 5/4 x 6" planks and 1" x 12 " facia boards).  Several days later after the deck had dried they came back to sand and stain the deck.  This is where a problem began to show itself, there were light and dark areas before the stain was applied which afterwards it looked fine but several days later, turned into yellow areas that appeared to be "bleached" out.
I contacted the company owner Daniel and he responded immediately to see what was the cause of the "yellowing".  Upon inspection he told me that he had never seen this before and wanted to check with his chemical suppliers for help. He took the time to schedule 3 different deck coating representatives to get their take on what caused this to happen and as it turned out, the stain that I had been using was from a different manufacturer than the brightener they used and a chemical reaction occurred causing the change in color.  (I had been using a natural clear stain which allowed the red color of the wood show)
Daniel obtained the cleaning/brightener from the same company as the stain we had used and retreated the deck, sanded and applied a new stain (this time I went with a tinted stain to help bring back the color as the deck is 18 years old).  The deck turned out looking good and there were no areas of yellowing.  I was very pleased with the way that this issue was addressed and will use Summit again in the future.

They did an amazing job.  This is the second time I've used Summit because I was so happy with them the first time.  They were easy to work with and arrived on time for both the quote and the job.  The work they did was perfect; I could not have asked for better.  I would highly recommend them to anyone and plan to use them for all my painting needs in the future.

Summit Painting provided a quote for painting of my home. Company tested for lead paint, came back negative on two sides of the house and was reflected in quote. The agreed upon price for painting my house was $9000. I signed the contract and provided a check for $2700 (30%). I elected to have paint burned off front of house at an additional cost which was included in the quote. Company came out on 2/5/14 to pressure wash (it was approx. 25 degrees outside) and spent at least an hour but closer to two hours unclogging the frozen pressure washer. My wife and other contractor doing work inside my house can confirm time on job site. Customer (me) called to inform company ice all over sidewalk and to put up caution cones (I live across from an elementary school). Company came out on 2/21 at 8:30 a.m. to scrap paint. Company halted work at at noon after company performed another lead test that came back positive for lead. Joe - my point of contact at company informed me they would be out to paint on 2/22. Workers did not show up. Job foreman, Maurico called on 2/18 to let me know team would be burning off lead in front of house the 24th through 26th and would confirm on Thursday. It was important for me to know because I have a 9 month old infant that needs to be off the premise and we need to make alternate living arrangements. Summit was aware of this. Maurico never called back, no lead removal was performed. I called and spoke with owner, Daniel Balio regarding lack of communication. He came out on 3/1, informed me of additional cost to follow lead safe practices on two side of house that were now testing positive for lead. We had a conversation about communication and how I was not being communicated with in a timely or informative fashion. He apologized. He told me Maurico would deliver updated contract that included an additional $900 charge. Until 3/11 I received no contact from Summit or Daniel. I called on 3/11 and left a voicemail asking to speak with Daniel. Maurico called and told me they were planning on coming out sometime next week. I called back and asked to speak with Daniel. I told him I was not comfortable moving forward and would like discontinue doing business with them. Daniel said he would refund my deposit less the labor performed and would provide me a breakdown of labor costs and hours worked. Labor hours worked do not reflect hours worked. He said total labor was $456 which included one worker clocking 7.5 hours on 2/5. Another 5 hours, and foreman 4 hours. They were at the property at most 3.5 hours. On 2/21 works arrived around 8:30 a.m. and had halted at noon yet two of the painters clocked 4.5 and 4 hours respectivelyI
Response from Summit Painting
"I am very sorry that you did not have the experience our customers have come to expect when working with our company. We try to do everything possible to provide a good experience for our customers. When the original proposal was submitted to you, we had tested the paint on your home for lead. The tests that we did came back negative. Unfortunately, different areas of the wall actually DID contain lead paint, whereas the areas tested during the initial consultation did not. Unfortunately, the law requires that we follow "lead safe" procedures when lead paint is being removed from the home. I halted the project for liability reasons once we discovered that there was more lead present than originally anticipated. Ultimately, I asked for a small amount of additional monies to cover extra costs (about 10% of the entire project) to follow lead procedures. I'm sorry if this did not come off as I had intended, but in all truth and honesty, this additional up-charge would only cover some of the additional costs. Lead renovation projects are extremely labor intensive and several additional regulations and worker safety specifications need to be followed in order to abide by the law. I'm really sorry that you were not happy with the final bill once you decided to cancel the contract. I only billed you for the exact number of hours my employees worked on your project (at their hourly rate). I didn't charge you anything for my companies assets, insurance, licensing, taxes, fuel or any of the other costs associated with doing business. I know you wanted a smaller bill, but I have already taken a loss on your project by asking you to only pay my employees take home wages. Lastly, dear Angie's List member, you signed up with our company for exterior painting in January. The primary reason for project delays were weather related. I hope you do have this project completed this summer and the experience with your next contractor goes well. I do appreciate your feedback and hope that in the future I am better able to handle situations like this and make each and every one of our customers happy to work with us. Warm Regards, Daniel Bailo President & Owner - Summit Painting"

Summit did an excellent job.  We had two services performed by the company:
1)  Full exterior house painting - The team was great.  They were responsive, did a very thorough job, including extensive caulking and repainting of the home.  They followed our instructions closely and the house turned out great.  They are a bit more expensive than some contractors, but they are well worth the money.
  2)  Interior painting.  We had them paint the ceiling of a small powder room as well as a half wall in our main living space.  They did a great job, were very detail oriented, arrived as scheduled and finished as planned.  Timing was important as we had wallpaper going up and carpet going down a couple days following the designated date for painting.  They did a great job.
I'd recommend them and would use them again for any painting project.
