"Representative came to my house, took the necessary measurements and specs. I received an estimate the same day. The glass was ordered and installed soon after it was received by Canyon. All personnel that I dealt with were knowledgeable and professional."

"I had a great experience with Lifetime Windows and Doors. I worked with Matt to purchase and install a new front door. I love my door and the accent glass, price was as expected, installation was smooth, good communication, and everyone is so nice. I would work with Lifetime again for future needs."

Charles and his crew were great. As they were working on the bathroom I kept adding things. Charles took it very well, they not only did the master bathroom, they put  a new window and painted the master bedroom. Put a new window, floor and grab bars in the hall bathroom.

"PNW cabinetry is truly committed to extraordinary customer service. They just remodeled our kitchen and dining room, including knocking down a load-bearing wall. Peter (the owner) and his crew were respectful, worked hard, and the quality is exceptional. Peter provided a schedule and they stuck to it throughout, even running ahead of schedule at times. Ivy, our designer (also with PNWC) helped us through all the choices, and made it easy. They were constantly accessible, and with any concerns we had, they responded immediately & to our satisfaction. Now our kitchen is our favorite place in the house, and we couldn't be happier. We would highly recommend them to anyone."

"I got a quote from DeBella and was shocked that it would cost $8,000 to install a replacement shower stall. My sales rep worked hard to lower the price closer to my budget but it was an extremely hard sale, which made me uncomfortable. After receiving another quote from Sears ($9,200), I understand now that DeBellas prices aren't out of the ordinary. However, I ultimately decided to go with a Home Depot kit (delta with a glass door for about $800)."

"

I initially contacted MS Railing through Angie's List and Serge was quick to respond. Because Serge needed more details we continued to communicate through texting so I could send him pics of the studs in the wall so he would know it would hold the heavy glass door. I was told (by several glass companies) that they wouldn't come out to measure until the tile was installed. However, Serge did give me a rough estm via text just so we'd have an idea of the cost. As soon as the tile was installed I texted Serge about coming out to measure to give us a solid quote. He came out the very next day and was punctual! We also got other estm for the glass from companies off of AL as well. What set MS Railing apart from the rest was the respect that Serge gave by taking off his shoes when he came into our house, MS Railing also had the lowest price and the quickest install turn around time (a week and a couple of days) compared to the other estms we received (3 weeks). The actual estm Serge gave us before he left was even lower than his rough estm he sent me via text! Since we were still waiting on a company to send us their quote, just to make sure, so we waited to let Serge know we wanted to go with his company to install the glass. When we finally got the other quote it was much higher so, I texted Serge to let him know (that was on a Fri evening), I was concerned maybe we should've waited until Mon morning to tell him. However, he did respond right away even though it was after hours. That following Tues I texted Serge to see about our order. I didn't need to worry b/c Serge had remembered and in fact on Weds he texted me to say the glass was ready!! They also had available an apt for 10 am apt spot the next day or I'd have to wait until the following Mon. I chose the 10 am appt.! The guys showed up on time, installed the glass within the hour and cleaned up! We have not used the shower yet as we are still adding some new fixtures and all to the bathroom but we love the look of the doors! We did pay extra for the glass stain protection that was applied to the glass before it was installed. The protection last 5 yrs and the price that was quoted was well below the other companies and worth the extra cost to us. A clear "plastic" strip was attached to the bottom of the shower door to help keep any water from coming out. I was told we could take it off but you can't really even see it plus it's nice to have the extra protection against any potential water that may get splashed onto the door and out onto the floor. Again we are super happy with the service that MS Railing provided and the glass looks wonderful!

Glass Block questions, answered by experts

Their thickness depends on application, but most glass walls are typically 3/8 to 3/4 of an inch thick. Although it’s not as common, single panes of glass can also be 1 inch thick.

New glass costs anywhere from $3 to $100 per square foot. More specifically, tempered and insulated glass—a common option for sliding glass doors—costs between $10 and $14 per square foot.

Installing glass block windows has benefits and disadvantages, as with most materials. The pros and cons can vary depending on the type of glass block and the window location.

Pros

  • Maintains privacy while letting light into the bathroom

  • Energy efficient

  • Sealed to prevent drafts

  • Aesthetically pleasing

  • Strong and secure

Cons

  • Costly to install

  • Challenging installation

  • Challenging repair

Glass block windows come in various patterns and styles that offer privacy and unique aesthetics. Frosted or textured glass diffuses light and enhances privacy. Wave-pattern glass blocks imitate ocean waves with flowing lines. Ice-glass blocks resemble cracked ice. Fluted glass blocks feature parallel vertical grooves, adding texture and depth. Clear glass blocks, similar to glass Coke bottles, offer transparency with some distortion and may have smooth surfaces or subtle textures, adding visual interest.

Glass block mortar is the best choice for glass block window units. It is specifically formulated for glass block window installation. Glass block mortar is usually a mixture of Portland cement, sand, and special chemicals. It is a white mortar that is applicable inside and outside your home. Do not use regular tile mortar because it may not have the binding strength and flexibility required for glass block windows.
