We are a Mobile RV repair and installation service. Our shop rate is $100 service call and $150 an hour. That sure beats a $500 towing charge or unhooking everything to drive your rig to a far away shop so you can get on the calendar to repair your rig.

Lim's Upholstery has been providing quality furniture restoration to our Portland area clients for over 27 years now and during that time we have established a reputation for excellent craftsmanship and on-time performance.

"We have a leather sofa that is at least 25 years old. They are in very good condition, except that the seat cushions got very soft after all of these years, so you sat really low in the sofa. The back cushions also got a little flat and the appearance of the sofa looked a little lumpy and not very neat. We took the cushions in to see what it would cost to replace the foam and fillings in the cushions. They gave us good advice and we thought the price was very reasonable (although we did not shop around for other estimates). The Lim's were also very friendly and easy to work with. Given the price of good furniture these days, we thought it was well worth the investment to replace the foam inside the cushions. It took about a week for them to complete the job. The result was that our sofa looks and feels like it is almost new again. The seating was nice and firm and very comfortable to sit in. The new foam and fillings inside the cushions also made the cushions very smooth on the outside as the new foam and fillings got out some of the wrinkles in the leather from the old cushions becoming so soft. We were so impressed with Lim's work that we brought in the cushions from our loveseat for them to work on. It turned out great as well. We now have a sofa and loveseat that looks good and comfortable again to sit in. I would recommend this place if you ever need to replace the foam and fillings inside your sofa/loveseat cushions. It was very enjoyable to work with them and the turnaround time was excellent."

They are antiques and I wasn't ready to change the fabric. The work that was done was top notch. One dining chair had a small flaw in the material that hadn't been noticed, so when I asked for it to be redone, there was no question about taking care of it for me for free. Before starting your project, be sure to ask about warranty terms, what is covered, and any exclusions.

The average time it takes to reupholster a piece of furniture is around eight hours, but it varies significantly based on the piece. A professional can usually reupholster smaller furniture units like dining chairs or small ottomans in two to three hours, while an entire sofa might take several days or up to a week. Antique furniture tends to take longer to reupholster because greater care needs to be taken to preserve the piece. Your timeline might be a bit longer if you need other repairs done, like sanding and refinishing wood components.

Ongoing maintenance of your leather furniture is the only way to prevent it from peeling and cracking. Real leather will peel and crack as it dries out. Leather conditioners are a great way to protect your leather furniture from drying out, and you’ll need to apply it about twice each year. It’s also a good idea to keep abrasive materials away from your leather to prevent cracking and peeling, including belt buckles, shoes, and multi-surface cleaners, especially those that contain alcohol.

If your usually super soft couch feels crusty and rough after cleaning, it could be that you haven’t removed the cleaning product properly, you used too much, or you applied the wrong type. Always check the couch tags to select the right cleaning product, read application instructions carefully, and test on an inconspicuous corner. For fabrics such as microfiber, you can soften and fluff crusty fibers using a soft-bristled brush.

It is possible to reupholster directly over old material in some cases, and it can save you a bit of money. If you are going to go this route, make sure you use a darker color than you had previously. Otherwise, you might see the old fabric beneath the new material. You should also keep in mind that reupholstering over old material is only possible with certain materials. For example, reupholstering over leather usually isn’t possible. You can ask your professional to see if this is an option for your piece.
