River Roofing has happily been in Bend since 1994. We have 25 courteous, knowledgable, professional team members. All work is performed by trained River Roofing technicians. We do not hire subcontractors. We are licensed, bonded and insured in the state of Oregon. License #137203. Repair work is performed on an hourly or fixed price basis as selected by the owner. Hourly work is billed at $120.00 for the service call and first hour of work and $55.00 per man hour beyond the first hour. Materials are billed at cost plus 15%. Roof replacement and new construction are based on a strict fixed price that is established before work begins. Repair work can also be based on a fixed price, before work begins, upon the owners request. Angie's List members recieve a 3% discount. We love serving our communtiy with beautiful new roofing and professional repairs. We are always just a phone call away, before and after the work is complete.

It is not advisable to use salt on your roof to prevent or remove ice dams. It’s not only mostly ineffective but can also cause serious damage to your roof itself. Salt can rust metal, damage masonry, pit shingles, and cause runoff that’s damaging to plants and animals.

If you do decide to remove the snow manually, you should always use a roof rake rather than a shovel. You shouldn’t climb your snowy roof in any circumstance, and roof rake allows you to remove the snow from the ground or a ladder. For the best results, remove snow as soon as possible after it falls.

You should check with your insurance provider, but generally, ice dam removal is not covered by insurance, as it’s considered a preventable issue. However, damage from ice dams may be covered by your policy, including roof collapses. In the case of leaks, your belongings may or may not be covered. If you can’t find specific information on ice dam removal in your policy, give the insurance company a call and find out.

When temperatures drop far enough, even rock salt can’t melt the ice. The briny solution freezes before it develops, and the salt doesn’t work, which happens around 10 to 15 degrees Fahrenheit.
