"Heavy D excavation took 20 years of overgrowth on my 30 acres and turned it into a park like setting. Cody created roads, removed brush and trees that were sick or dead, and took care to keep anything healthy. I am creating a campground and he carved out all the spaces, taking care to keep things flowing and aesthetically pleasing. The fire roads were so good, even the fire marshall was impressed. I recommend Heavy D excavation!"

"Dusty and his crew had to correct major foundation and rain drainage problems. Entirely hand digging and lots of it! The entire crew was friendly and cheerful throughout. Dusty made sure that I knew exactly what they were doing to correct my problem and any options that I had. They were all terrific. Arrived on time; worked steadily hand digging trenches for 4 days; thorough clean up when they finished. Can't say enough good things about these guys (and Jennifer). Referred them to my next door neighbor. Would hire them again without hesitation. Thank you Redhawk excavation."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Yes, most services include site leveling and foundation work. Confirm with your contractor for specifics.

How deep your septic system needs to be into the ground depends on several factors. In extremely cold environments, the tank needs to rest below the maximum frost line, which can be up to six or eight feet deep. The standard burying depth for most systems is between a few inches and four feet below ground level. Depth can also depend on the slope of the landscaping and other property variables.

Concrete blocks are the cheapest way to base a shed. However, the space in between allows critters to go under, burrow, and even damage your shed’s frame. For a more pest-proof option, consider building a shed base with gravel or paver stones. Both options are fairly affordable and easy enough for a DIY project. For gravel, you can build a wooden frame to contain the loose material.

It takes one hour to dig a 10-foot trench by hand. Use a trenching shovel with a sharp tip and a long head. Plan for more time if your soil is heavy or rocky. Consider renting a trencher if you’re digging a long or deep trench or if you have challenging soil or terrain.

Drilled wells have a pipe sticking up that’s covered in a plastic or metal casing. On the other hand, a dug well will look like a big hole in the ground and is more similar to what you’d see in a fantasy or Western movie. If you want to be sure, contact the city for documentation on your property’s construction and excavation history.
