"Installers were excellent. Salesman was knowledgeable. Problem was they did not communicate. The first day the installers tore out my vanity as well saying they had instructions to replace it. On the second day, the salesman called me and said whoops, you can either fix that yourself or we can install a new one for 7,000 more than we agreed I was at work so said I could not make a decision then. The installers told my wife that day that they were told I said I would fix it myself. I never said that. The company called to check if I was satisfied afterwards and I told them this. They said they would open a ticket but no one ever followed up with me."

These appliances do unscrew, but you need to disconnect everything properly when you replace your garbage disposal. Garbage disposals last an average of seven years but can function well past 10 years. However, as time goes on and more food is ground, the grinding plates will slowly lose their edge and need replacing. A motor likely won’t last 10 or more years, but you should be able to get a minimum of five years at least, even under heavy usage.

Soil is just one of the items you shouldn't put down a garbage disposal. Garbage disposals are only meant for soft, non-fibrous foods. Large amounts of topsoil, dirt, or rocks will damage the blades of your garbage disposal or clog the pipes. If a small amount of dirt goes down the drain as you repot a plant, you shouldn't have to worry, but never dump a whole pot of soil in the sink for fast disposal.
