I have lived in the OKC area all of my life and have helped build dozens of homes through a partnership with Habitat for Humanity. we been in business since 1938 in oklahoma we started spraying foam in 1968 we got out of the foam business for several yrs in 2006 we built our own home and could not find some one to spray it like we wanted to be sprayed. so we decided to do it our self, so we purchaes the equipment and boy how things changed since the early 70s well we went back to school and got reschool on new building tech. and been going ever yr to keep up on changing building codes and enviroment codes. rest is history.

Stucco should be inspected yearly or every few years, depending on where you live. Stucco homes in wet or humid climates are at higher risk for damage and should be inspected once per year. Homes in drier climates can wait longer between inspections, and get one every three years or so.

There are several signs that your chimney is dirty and ready for cleaning. Look for the following:

  • A buildup of creosote and soot inside the chimney

  • The room fills with smoke when you use the fireplace

  • The damper is black with creosote residue

  • When you light a fire, it quickly goes out

In general, it’s best to schedule a cleaning at least once a year before winter so you can safely use the fireplace. 

It can be safe to live in a house with asbestos as long as the asbestos-containing materials are in good condition and not disturbed. Asbestos is only dangerous when it becomes airborne, which happens if the material is damaged, crumbling, or disturbed during renovation work. If you suspect asbestos is present, it's important not to disturb it and to have it professionally inspected.

Removing your fireplace can lower your home’s overall value, but probably only slightly (around $1,000 to $5,000, on average). When deciding whether or not to remove your fireplace, weigh the benefits of removing your fireplace (less maintenance, more floor space) against the potential loss of value.

You can test your ductwork by hiring a technician to attach a vacuum to the ductwork near the HVAC unit and put the vent system under pressure. Your pro can use a duct leak tester to measure the amount of pressure that's escaping. 

You can also do a DIY test using an incense stick or smoke pencil. With the HVAC system running, pass the stick or pencil across the ductwork. Pay attention to the movement of the smoke. When you notice it changing, it could be a sign there’s a leak or bad connection in the duct.
