"Daniel Raymond came out to do our inspection today September 3rd, 2024. What a treat to have a knowledgeable and very friendly inspector to answer our every question. Nothing was rushed and no corners were cut. Thank you so much Daniel for making what should have been a stressful situation into an educational and enjoyable afternoon. Be safe. Update: October 4th, 2024. This was a stress free experience for us. Injection crew came out to take care of the final touches. They were on time, courteous and explained the procedures for each day’s work. Communication was superb and they kept us in the loop every step of the way. Thank you Luke, Chris, Isaac, Jason and J. B. Job complete."

Small jobs welcome

"I hired Andrew to do a home inspection and termite inspection on a property I am purchasing, and I was thrilled with the services provided to me. Not only did Andrew perform what I would call an extremely thorough inspection, but did so at an extremely reasonable price. I almost hired someone else based solely on his price, as I felt it was too cheap. I am glad I did not. Andrew used a thermal imaging drone to do the roof portion of the inspection, and a thermal imaging robot to inspect the crawlspace. I now see how he can outperform his competition on price, as he can do a far superior job in those areas in half the time as crawling around on top of or underneath the home. They offer a 100% home buy back gaurantee in the case that something is missed on the inspection. That piece of mind alone is worth the minimal fee Andrew charges. I would recommend them to anyone I knew looking for a home inspection. Thanks Andrew!!!!!"

Home Inspection questions, answered by experts

You’ll know you have smoke damage if you notice a lingering smoky odor, see soot or residue, or spot any discoloration of surfaces in your home. If you have any kind of house fire, always assume you have smoke damage and hire a professional who deals with smoke damage to assess the extent of the damage and restore your home to its pre-fire condition.

Structural engineers can perform various inspections on different structures in your home. These inspections usually include a report detailing the engineer’s findings and recommendations for repairs so you can determine your next course of action for repairs, replacements, or new builds. Some of the most common structural engineering reports include:

  • Full home inspection: $350–$1,000

  • Foundation: $300–$800

  • Load-bearing walls: $300–$1,000

  • Roof: $150–$600

  • Chimney: $200–$500

Homeowners usually do not have to update existing systems unless they are doing significant renovations. Consult your local building codes or ask a knowledgeable local contractor for the details.

A septic system inspection costs $100 to $200. Doing so can spot issues early so you can plan for necessary repairs ahead of time and save yourself the issue of a backed-up septic tank. Some septic tank repair professionals do an inspection as part of their yearly maintenance on your septic tank if you choose to pay for that service, but you should shoot to have a septic system inspection completed at least once every two to five years.

There are a few things you can look out for to ensure your chimney is safe to use. Check for the following issues:

  • Cracks or missing pieces in the masonry of the chimney

  • Creosote buildup in the chimney, which is a black, tar-like substance

  • Cracks, stains, or scorch marks in the firebox

  • Water stains in or around the fireplace

  • A broken or stuck damper
