"Shane and Chris were very kind and professional. They explained the process of foam to lift up the concrete around my swimming pool. They cleaned up afterwards and it was a very nice experience. I would highly recommend this service."

"The Chubb Co. used a compact power digger to reach my clogged footer drain and were very careful to install new PVC pipe at the proper slope to my drain to the street. They put 3 coats of two kinds of sealer on the walls. And they discovered that a previous cement installation had been poured under my back door sill. They corrected this code violation by removing the cement and rebar and rebuilding, with bricks, the top of the foundation under the door sill. They did not charge me extra for this little "surprise". They cleaned and tested the drains that go to the street drains. Additionally they removed, to the first joint, the old driveway concrete and the short sidewalk which is on the same level as the driveway. And they installed two new cleanout pipes where the new work joins the old drains. They kept the area clean after each day's work and answered any questions I had as they proceeded. All four guys were pros at what they did! And they arranged for a local HVAC company to move and reinstall my AC. This was an additional charge. The contract was precise and they did everything as written and even beyond with the rebuild of the door sill. The concrete and last of the topsoil will be installed this Monday or Tuesday."

"Of the three quotes we got Great Garage was the highest, but we went with them because we felt more confident that they would deliver a higher quality product than the others. Good decision. The price we paid was exactly what was quoted. Demo and construction were delayed a bit because of the unusually wet summer, but they were always here when they said they would be. The different crews (demo, concrete, carpenters, roofing, electrical, siding) were punctual, and performed quality work and kept a clean work area. Great Garage’s project manager, Jon Keeney, kept the project moving along and communicated well with us throughout. He was a joy to work with, and was only a phone call away when we had questions. We highly recommend Great Garage Company - and Jon if you can get him!"

"They did good work.  I called them for my mother in law and she actually told me about them but she pays for it and she has a contract with them.  They were very prompt.  I wanted them to make sure that they follow and didn’t know that they only come out if the place is already inches but they came out anyway.  They satisfied me and made sure the driveway was cleaned out."

Concrete Mudjacking questions, answered by experts

There is no real alternative to underpinning, although mudjacking and polyjacking are other repair methods that can add support from underneath your foundation. Rather than placing supportive piers under your structure, these involve pumping a material under your slab to lift a sunken section back into its original position. Polyjacking, in particular, is sometimes a suitable solution for stabilization issues under slab foundations, but underpinning is often accepted as the best and most permanent solution.

Trenching and boring are two distinct methods for installing underground utilities. Trenching involves digging a channel using equipment like an excavator, trencher, backhoe, or shovel. While it is a simpler process, it causes significant disruption to the surface, landscaping, and surrounding ecosystems.

Boring, also known as directional boring, is a less invasive alternative that uses a drill to create a tunnel for utility lines without disturbing the surface. This method is more precise and is ideal for installations that need to go underneath buildings, roads, or bodies of water. Although boring is less disruptive, it is generally more expensive than trenching.

Most projects take 1-3 hours, with immediate usability after completion.

Mudjacking typically takes 24 to 72 hours (one to three days) to dry and cure completely before you can resume normal use. The total drying time can vary depending on the size of the project. Because the slurry mixture contains cement, it needs to harden fully to prevent the concrete slab from shifting under added weight. You should avoid walking on the concrete or placing heavy items like furniture or vehicles on the surface until it has fully set. Your concrete contractor can provide a precise timeline. As a point of comparison, if you opt for polyjacking, the polyurethane foam can dry in minutes, but it's recommended to wait about an hour before use.

The average cost for mudjacking is around $1,200, though prices can range from $300 to $3,400. On a per-square-foot basis, you can expect to pay between $3 and $8, with an average of about $5 per square foot. The final cost depends on several factors, including the square footage of the concrete, the type of slab, its accessibility, whether it is load-bearing, and the type of material used to lift it. Generally, lifting a driveway, small patio, or sidewalk is less expensive than lifting a slab foundation or garage floor.
