"Nationwide sent a company called Paul Davis Restorations into my house without my prior approval or acceptance. I was told to sign their paper when they got there or work would not get done. Nationwide forced them on me. This is some kind of scam going on between these two companies. They wanted to pull up bathroom floor because of feces being on the floor. My house was built in 1955 and they were aware of some mold in the bathroom. They pulled up 4 layers of flooring without doing the remediation correctly. Contaminating my whole house and me. I have never been so sick in my life. They lied about my coverage, tried to trick me into signing papers I would never sign and pretty much wrecked my house. Probably a total loss. Thanks Nationwide and Paul Davis Restoration out of Flowery Branch. #notonmyside"

Home Warranty prides itself on providing the best value in the home warranty industry, making our Home Protection Plan the home warranty of choice wherever we do business.

"Buyers Beware – Total Waste of Money We purchased the premium home warranty package through Home Warranty Inc (homewarrantyinc.com) when we bought our home in October 2024, including the add-on for sprinkler system coverage. As anyone familiar with North Dakota knows, sprinkler systems must be winterized in September or October to prevent freeze damage. Ours was professionally blown out as soon as we moved in. Fast forward to spring—sprinkler systems in this region typically aren’t used again until late May, after the last freeze. We hired a professional sprinkler company to perform the spring startup and inspection. They found that multiple valves weren’t working properly. I filed a claim with the home warranty company immediately. Despite having the coverage, they denied the claim, saying it was a "pre-existing condition." That’s absolutely ridiculous, considering the system was winterized upon move-in and wasn’t even operational until months later. To make matters worse, this company has no partnered service providers in our town. You're expected to find your own technician, and good luck finding one who’s willing to work with them. Even if you do, you're likely stuck paying a significant amount out of pocket if anything needs to be replaced. This company is a complete scam. They take your money and leave you high and dry when it actually matters. I would never recommend them to anyone."

Home Warranties questions, answered by experts

Homeowners insurance usually doesn’t cover foundation cracks. They are considered normal wear and tear that every home undergoes. Your foundation in general is likely covered for things like fire and water damage, but most companies don’t insure damage caused by settling, shifting soil, earthquakes, and floods, which commonly lead to foundation cracks.

Either the buyer or the seller can purchase coverage, and who pays for a home warranty depends on the situation. Some sellers buy a year of home warranty coverage to entice buyers to purchase their home, while some buyers purchase coverage to ensure they’re not on the hook for expensive appliance and system repairs shortly after closing on their home.

Home thermostats are covered in most home warranty plans. However, if you want your warranty to cover any repairs or replacements that you may need, you’ll need to keep your thermostat in good condition. This means cleaning and dusting it regularly, as well as making sure it has fresh batteries (if it’s battery-operated).

Yes, many providers offer warranties for new pumps and labor. Confirm terms before scheduling.

Several factors make a home warranty worth it or not, especially the age of your home and the condition and age of the appliances in it. If you buy an older home with most or all original appliances, a warranty may be worth the investment as these home features are more likely to need repairs or replacements. However, if you’re buying a new-construction home, a warranty may already be included, and you may not need to use it for several years. In this case, purchasing add-ons may not be worth the cost until a few years later.
