EverDry of Cincinnati is a full service basement waterproofing and foundation repair company. Our patented multi-step system is chosen by the vast majority of out customers.

"Horrible horrible experience was lied to constantly didn’t do half of the work. I was told they would do. Cleanup is horrible. About more than half. The house didn’t get a system on the outside. Sump pump was put in the wrong side of the house that we agreed upon they are in no rush to help you. They only work on their time. Told me it was an inconvenience how far away I live after they took the job. I would highly highly recommend to never use Everdry and it was outrageously expensive."

"Absolute WORST experience I’ve ever had with a company! They are extremely predatory and convinced my 63 year old mother that she had to sign the contract THAT DAY, and she didn’t even understand what she was signing! The first day they were scheduled to do the job, they showed up hours late, and said they “weren’t the right crew to do the job”. We then had to wait a couple weeks for a different crew to come, and when they came they said they weren’t the right crew to do the job either!! 2 weeks later, ANOTHER crew came and said THE SAME EXACT THING!!! So after 3 times of getting the runaround, I was completely FED UP with this horrible company and decided to cancel the contract. They FINALLY did let me cancel, but are demanding we still pay $600! After all they put us through over 3+ months, they had the nerve to charge us $600 for an outlet! PLEASE AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS! All they care about is dollar signs, not about the QUALITY of their work or customer service."

Stay Dry Waterproofing, LLC specializes in Waterproofing Basements, foundation settlement repairs, and mold testing and removal. We use patented, safe and proven methods of repair.

"They are overpriced, did not take proper precautions to protect our carpet, promised us professional carpet cleaning, then sent out two of their guys with rags and a shop vac to “clean” the carpets. Then we were told it’s not policy to send out carpet cleaners, and that we’re on our own. We were promised 4 different things involving quality of the project, none were done. This place is a total scam, and has SERIOUS communication and misinformation issues internally. Would never use them again. All they did was open up walls, spray some stuff, made a mess, and left us to handle any problems stemming from their lack of attention to detail, and crappy policies."

I provide honest, independent opinions regarding structural engineering to homeowners to help them figure out what they truly need to do instead of relying upon a contractor trying to land his next project. I have twenty-five years of experience and am registered in 23 states and have performed work all over the US, including work for NASA.

"Based on concerns of the home inspector, I hired a structural engineer to check out the house I was considering. I have no experience with home ownership and wanted assurance I was making a good decision for my son and my first home. My realtor gave me a list of structural engineers he worked with in the past. Tracy was my second call. I left a voicemail for the first person and did not get a return call. Tracy answered the phone, asked questions I could understand and answer and an appointment was made only a few days later. I met him and my realtor at the house. Tracy was extremely prompt and got immediately to work. I appreciated how he checked out every area of the home, not just the ones identified by the building inspector. He took the time to explain to me in terms I could understand, any areas of concerns and how to fix them, without me feeling talked down to. His written report came quickly and I felt confident proceeding with the sale. I would Use Tracy again and will recommend him to others."

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

Indications include cracks in walls, uneven floors, and sticking doors or windows that suggest foundation movements.

No, a structural engineer is not the same as a builder. A structural engineer is an expert in all things related to the structural integrity of a building. The structural engineer is responsible for calculating the correct materials in terms of load-bearing capacity and overall structural safety. Structural engineers do not perform the actual building of the house or other structures. Rather, the builder executes the plans and designs specified by the structural engineer.

First, most contractors will have a structural engineer create a report and plan for your project to ensure it’s safe to cut into the load-bearing wall. The contractor will then excavate around the wall, if necessary, measure the opening—allowing for additional space to fit and level the door, and then cut the doorway out. They will likely install a steel lintel as a header over the door for support. Once the doorway is cut out, they’ll demolish the concrete using sledge hammers and masonry chisels, clean up the surrounding concrete, and seal around the door with masonry mortar.

Whether you’re building a new home or building an extension on your existing property, you will likely need both a structural engineer and an architect. A structural engineer will determine what loads your foundation and framing can safely handle, and an architect will draw plans according to those structural calculations to simplify the building process. You can start by contacting a structural engineer near you, as many work alongside architects and can get all of the prep work done at once.

Yes, walls on the top floor can be load-bearing if stacked on the floor’s foundation.
