Small jobs welcome

"Removed old light fixtures and installed recessed/canned lighting. Fixed some bad tap areas and cracks in ceilings and painted ceilings. We are extremely happy with the work. The work was completed as promised. The crew was friendly, knowledgeable and courteous. They took great care in covering and protecting our furniture and even swept and mopped on their way out. We plan to hire LTB again for future projects."

"Feliks recently completed a deck project in which he replaced all the deck boards, painted the railing, and repaired/replaced some rotten wood. The quality of his craftsmanship and professionalism were excellent. He is exceptionally hard working and doesn't overlook the small details. He really went out of his way to make sure we were happy with the finished product, and he was thorough in cleaning the site before he left. We definitely plan on hiring him again for other projects. We give him our highest recommendation!"

"Don arrived on time and was professional and knowledgeable regarding home repairs. I had him install roughly 800sqft of flooring in my home. Installation was quick and without any issues. He even fixed a threshold piece that was loose even though it wasn’t part of the initial job. I ended up using him for installing shower tile in my master bathroom as well. We ended up running into issues due to my walls not being even and not having been properly insulated. Once we removed the original shower wall inserts Don was able to troubleshoot and correct the issue. Job did take longer than originally expected due to the unexpected issues but he was very accommodating and made no complaints when it caused more trips to the hardware store for extra supplies. I like how he explained everything he was doing and how everything worked."

"Communicative, easy to reach, on time, and quality work. He installed two ceiling fans and helped get the right parts. He cleaned up after his work and even quoted me for another job. Definitely will want to hire again for the next project."

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, it is generally safe to have a fire pit on a deck, but you must adhere to building codes and take several safety precautions. For both built-in and freestanding models, you must use a heat-resistant barrier, such as a fire pit pad or heat shield, between the pit and the deck. Additionally, consider the weight of the fire pit and ensure your deck can structurally support it, reinforcing it if necessary. The fire pit must also be positioned a safe distance from your house, particularly from materials like vinyl siding, to prevent heat damage.

Your pilot light needs to be on whenever you’re using your furnace to heat your home. However, you might decide to turn it off during the summer months, when you don’t need heating. Doing this can save you a little bit of money on utility costs—just make sure you’re fine with relighting your pilot light (or hiring a professional to do it) when fall comes around and you’re ready to get cozy.

Beyond having an inspection, it’s important to do chimney maintenance at least annually to be certain the chimney is safe to use. Cleaning the flue of any built-up particles, creosote, and soot reduces the risk of fire. Fortunately, the cost of hiring a pro to do a chimney inspection often includes a chimney cleaning, so you may not have an extra expense for maintenance.

You should not attempt to disable a smoke alarm unless you’ve already activated a replacement unit. To stop a hardwired smoke alarm from beeping, reset the device or silence the alarm. If you’re removing a hardwired alarm, shut off the power, turn the unit counterclockwise to remove it from the ceiling, and disconnect the wiring.

Recessed lights, as with any kind of light, can be a fire hazard if not installed correctly. Because of this, it’s best to have a professional complete the installation for you. Properly installed lights should not pose a threat and often have heat sensors installed in them that turn the light off if the temperature gets too high.
